Earlier, I’d given John the shirt he wore that particular night. I’d started spending time with a group called the Rockercisers, who wanted to teach people how to exercise in place – they pitched it as aerobic dance for future astronauts. As soon as I gave John the bright, loud shirt they’d designed, he took his shirt off and put the new one on. The Rockercisers were pretty happy when they say the picture of John wearing their shirt.

There’s a chance it could have been custom made for John, as I searched the entire internet looking for that shirt. All I’m getting is “Mysterious John Lennon shirt” stuff.
I kicked around a bit too @Magill. The Rockerciser Company still exists (appears to mostly be gyms playing rock music – found a video of 20 people playing air guitar), so I went ahead and sent them an email asking about the shirt. Hopefully I can get a picture to share.

^They met at the Liverpool art school, and were together in one or two (don’t remember exactly) classes so they started a relationship there.
I saw this pic and focused on their framed picture of the naked two virgins photo session and then wondered who that naked guy at their left is? i always thought they (John and Yoko) were alone when they took this photo:

What do people think of John’s UFO story?
He’s absolutely sincere in his statements.

Does anyone know where I can get ahold of John’s personal tapes from 1979 where he talks about his life and depression? Can only find about 15 minutes of it on Youtube.
I was under the impression those fifteen minutes (where he talks about 9 Newcastle Road etc) is the only audio to exist. I think he gave up fairly quickly.

I was doing some research and there seems to be a person(s) with more of the tapes but I can’t recall what website I found that on.

The tapes were among items stolen by John’s personal assistant, John Seaman, after John’s murder. He made the argument that the items he stole were things John wanted Julian to have, but made no attempt to pass them on to Julian, but instead passed the tapes to another writer to transcribe in preparation for a book, can’t remember who it was, but they pulled out once they heard Seaman was being sued by Yoko.
Seaman did go on to publish a book, which Yoko sued over and was banned for breaking court injunctions. They have been back in the last few months when he spoke of publishing an updated version of the book. I believe it has been settled out of court with no book forthcoming and with Seaman again forbidden to break the confidentially agreement he signed when entering John’s employment for personal profit.

Lennon left the UK for New York in August 1971, never to return.
Sad. Frustrating.

As it turned out, New York became synonymous with John as much as Liverpool.

Not that I know of, @Shamrock Womlbs, and there is nothing remarkable about that, or that says John didn’t care about Julian.
In 99% of cases at that time the courts would give custody to the mother as the primary care giver. In order to gain custody John would have needed to present the courts with an argument that Cynthia was an unfit mother, something he would have known was untrue.
The same can be seen in the courts awarding Yoko custody of Kyoko, leading to Anthony Cox’s “kidnapping” of her, and Yoko’s long search for her, as well as Maureen getting primary custody of Zak, Jason and Lee when she and Ringo divorced.
It was just the done thing at the time so far as the courts were concerned, custody went to the mother unless there was strong evidence the mother was unfit.

Hi Ron, this reply snt related to any of that, but I was wondering if you could give context on john’s encounter with Frank Zappa. Did John really “Streal” the song “King Kong” from him? I know Zappa, being the egotist he is, claims he was never credited and he had a few choice words about it. What was JOHN’S stance? Do you know?

Where’s this gif from?
That would be the Rolling Stone’s Rock N’ Roll Circus. He’s saying, “And now, your hosts for this evening, the Rolling Stones!” – in Get Back , John references it a lot
