Anyone able to make out (or even know) what the text says in the image immediately below (as you can see its been flipped so the text is the right way round)?
Its the ‘(Just Like) Starting Over’ promo, created for the ‘Lennon Legend’ DVD, and whereas all the other photos had no text on the reverse, this one clearly does and remains on screen to be noticeable. The front of the picture is
"I told you everything I could about me, Told you everything I could" ('Before Believing' - Emmylou Harris)

I can’t tell exactly, @meanmistermustard, but given the actual picture (thanks for including that as it goes to my reading…) I would suggest:
“Come hither type look” those I’m certain of, followed by possibly/probably “Elvis”, while I can’t make out the last word at all, I would imagine it is something like “style” or “based”, something with that kind of meaning.
Reasoning? I’ve seen that picture referenced as being an early example of John’s “Come hither type look” and that it was a look John modelled on Elvis, and so I think that’s what the writing on the back of the photo is about.

Was John ever vegetarian? I know the other three were/are, but I never heard about John.

I think it was mentioned here before that John was the only Beatle that never went vegetarian.

I hate to disagree with @AppleScruffJunior, @Beatlebug, but John was certainly mainly vegetarian from around 1967 and throughout much of the ’70s, although he would go through periods of eating meat, and was probably eating meat during 1980.
I’m not sure of exactly when this quote is from, but John said on the subject:
I don’t think animals were meant to be eaten and worn. We have enough resources to do without them. It’s common sense to me that you shouldn’t eat most of the chemically treated rubbish most people seem to stuff themselves with. The trouble is most vegetarians don’t get enough protein. My diet’s based on meal, bread which Yoko makes, rice and no sugar. We have honey if things need sweetening.
In Pete Shotton’s book, In My Life , he comments that whenever visiting John at Weybridge from around 1967, he’d be offered vegetarian burgers and sausages.
As I said though, he’d go back to meat at various times. May Pang commented that during her time with him he loved her “full English” breakfast, which would have included meat.
When not strictly vegetarian, he was often macrobiotic, which allows fish.
When asked about their diet during the 1980 Playboy interview, they replied:
John: We’re mostly macrobiotic, but sometimes I take the family out for a pizza.
Yoko: Intuition tells you what to eat. It’s dangerous to try to unify things. Everybody has different needs. We went through vegetarianism and macrobiotic, but now, because we’re in the studio, we do eat some junk food. We’re trying to stick to macrobiotic: fish and rice, whole grains. You balance foods and eat foods indigenous to the area. Corn is the grain from this area.

^ Good to hear, when in doubt ask Ron, Ron knows all.
(Speaking of which there is a Beatles festival in Dublin in November and they always have a quiz- I’ve always wanted to ask the Brits did they want to come over on a cheap Ryanair flight for the day/weekend and we’d kick everybody asses in the quiz. I think its the same group of lads who’ve won since it started but the Biblers would give them a run for their money I’d say).

Ermm, there have been accounts of John trying to become thin after some journalist in an article called him the “fat Beatle”. Does anybody know which article said this about him? I’ve tried finding it, but no luck. The only article that suggests that is the “How does a Beatle live?” by Maureen Cleave, which was the same article as that had the “bigger than Jesus” quote.
It says, “He (John) looks more like Henry VIII now that his face has filled out..”
Henry VIII was considered to be fat, so I’m thinking this is the article? Or was there any other article that actually called him “the fat Beatle”. Also, is it true that he really took those comments from the article to heart and tried to lose weight?

I’ve never seen the reporter’s name credited. In all the articles I see online, they refer to him/her as “some reporter”. One went so far as to say “some fool”.

According to the site I linked to above, it was in 1898. Lewisohn’s book has the date, but I don’t have the book with me.

Is the quote: “It will be all right in the end and if it is not all right, it is not the end” credited to John Lennon ? Because I just saw it credited to Deborah Moggach. My whole life seems like a lie.

But also certainly it wasn’t John. A google search brings up names such as Fernando Sabino.
Its quoted in ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ but was in existence long before the book/film existed.
