John was no more a jerk than any of the others. Anything jerk-like that you accuse him of doing can also be attributed to at least one, if not all three, of the others. They just don’t have ex-wives or girlfriends writing books about it. I’ve been a Beatles fan my whole life, I’ve heard the stories… including first-hand accounts. They were all lovely and they were all jerks. Just like 99% of us.Here’s a quote from Bob Wooler: “The Beatles were terrible when they ganged up on you— all of them, Pete Best as well. Their tongues could be savage.” Not just John… all of them. John was just the loudest.
@Lennonista
You may be right. The kind of people you admire as artists but not the kind of gang you wanna hang around with, hey?
@Oudis Well, the rumour is that Ringo and Barbara went into rehab in 1988 after he hit/beat her up in a drunken state.
It’s not a rumor, he admitted it.

What do you mean by “the FCC”, @Starr Shine?? Those initials bring up the Federal Communications Commission, and if that’s what you mean I can’t think of any dealings John had with them, or why he would have any particular thoughts or opinions about them. Maybe if you were specific about what you mean, and why you think he would have thoughts/opinions on the subject. Is there some incident you’re thinking might have got a reaction from John?

Found an article where Pete Best talks about John having a desire at one time to be a footballer. Has anyone ever heard this anywhere else?

I don’t think that’s a difficult question to conjecture about a reasonable answer: Given John’s Leftist panache & politics, it would be reasonable to infer that he would have been against punishing his murderer. However, there is interesting anecdotal evidence that his politics may have changed radically (pun intended) in his last couple of years, according to Fred Seaman, who was his personal assistant in his last year and wrote a book about it.
According to this interview, Seaman says he talked a lot about politics with Lennon during that last year, and he claims that Lennon became pro-Reagan. If that’s true, he likely also would have become in favor of capital punishment for murderers.
WOW.. make any broad generalizations much??? i have never met anyone on the “left” or “right” that believed every single tenant of that ideology by default. I was disappointed recently when i read in a Lennon interview that he said his time and energy in the peace movement was a bunch of BS and he was drafted into the movement. I think,he was a very confused and F’ed up guy.. but he sure did make some great music

My dad told me a story about an upside down room that John had in the 60s. He also remember pictures and movies about that. Anybody know somethinh? I googled it but i didn’t found anything.
That seems vaguely familiar to me…like maybe a story about Keith Moon wanting to put furniture on the ceiling of a hotel room or something. But it’s very vague, like maybe something I heard once in a documentary.

Can’t find anything on that, but apparently John recorded a take of Tomorrow Never Knows upside down!

Did you know there are John Lennon scholarships for music students?
Not much of a question, but it couldn’t think of a better place to post.

Do they imagine taking the scholarship for peace?
The information brief writes “Lennon’s enormous creative legacy includes such songs as, “I Want To Hold Your Hand ,” “Strawberry Fields,” “Imagine ,” “I Am The Walrus ,” “All You Need Is Love ,” and “Come Together ,” and continues to inspire and uplift new generations of music lovers around the world.”. Would have thought they would have included a couple more solo tracks instead of being primarily Beatles era.

I think a lot of people would have a hard time naming John’s solo singles beyond Imagine , unfortunately.

Just seems to suggest that outside the Beatles John wrote ‘Imagine ‘ and nothing else of note whereas folk know ‘Instant Karma ‘, ‘Give Peace A Peace’ and ‘Happy X-mas (War Is Over)’ for a start.

I think John views had changed drastically but I am not sure he was supportive of any party or against any party. I think he liked or supported Reagan because he met him at the Monday Night Football game he attended and that he was once an actor/artist.
Also Johns opinion changed drastically on his past work and actions. Which interview? I think he genuinely wanted to right a powerful song “Give Peace A Chance ” or message to replace the other one protesters were singing. I think the bed ins were some what genuine definitely Yoko influenced. He was a great PR mind and the bed ins basically promoted his first solo single and gave him a solo outlet. I think he is referring to his time with the Yippies Jerry Rubin and Abby Hoffman being BS. They were really trying to prey on John as a platform for themselves and he went along for a little bit.

Just about John really…..Well not really about John but as it adds to his disputed working class hero credentials he may have liked this……….Turns out one of his relations was a right ‘scally’ as they say in Liverpool.
