Had a look thru and couldn’t find a thread for this will begin. If one exists already feel free mods to shuffle it along to there.
Have read the quote but not seen John give the interview.

John was always a great interview, here’s another clip, this one from 1975 where he touches on a few things. ‘Steel & Glass’ is mentioned but no association to Allen Klein which many believe who the song’s lyric was directed towards. This is also the only time that I can remember where John talks about pummeling Bob Wooler at Paul’s Birthday Party:
It’s interesting that many believed that John was the most against the idea of a Beatles’ Reunion, but he sounds quite open to it here on this particular day…:-)

Some of this footage shows up in The U.S. vs. John Lennon documentary.
On the topic of miscellaneous John videos, here’s John and Yoko sight-seeing San Francisco with a very young Geraldo Rivera…

Yeah thats an interesting John interview in 1975. This might be the Grey Whistle? It was so strange to me that he just came of a #1 hit and album, Whatever Gets You Through the Night and retired. Pretty Sure Eltions Lucy in the Sky went #1 at tail end of 74 also. John co-write Fame with Bowie which went #1 also in September of 75. Just Strange that here he was back on top, friends wit Paul again, and open to reunion then retires. There was also a planned follow up to Walls And Bridges . Also Geraldo mentions there cross country trip, I am very sure this is when they were trying to kick there H habit again around 72. Yoko looks like shes nodding off with her eyes closed at one point and John is trying to cover for her. John mentions the trip in Sky Writing by Word of Mouth. Also the idea of Steal and Glass, always kind of reminded me of the phrase stealing cash. Might just be a comparison though of two very different people or ideology one being steal the other glass. Very unique song actually, John claims it to have been about a couple of people, but definitely not Paul, and that people would be surprised who its about in one of his last interviews.

I enjoy seeing John Lennon footage filmed in Central Park, he obviously sought refuge here from the pressures of everyday life, not much unlike escaping to the Strawberry Fields orphanage as a youth. This ‘Mind Games ‘ video is one that I’m very fond of, and it’s one of those rare times during John’s solo career where Yoko is nowhere to be seen, not that I don’t appreciate all that Yoko has done for John but it’s nice to see John just being John for a change here:
The footage filmed during the Autumn of 1980 is nice too, but unfortunately hard to view without thinking about what was about to happen soon after:
We often point out how The Beatles grew tired of having to constantly answer questions to the press about “when are The Beatles getting back together?” But it’s easy to forget that they were also having to answer to the fans about the same questions to no end as well, “Tomorrow!”…:-)

Yeah definitely a place of peace for him. Nice now that the Strawberry Fields Memorial is there for him. Also love the Imagine tile work they did always thought that design would make a nice tattoo. I am not sure but I have seen that 74 footage for Whatever Gets You through the Night promo/music video. Its tough to tell since he doesn’t mime to it, But I am pretty sure Mind Games was released right when he was in LA Spring of ’73 and I know Walls And Bridges was finished in New York and year matches too. Fall of ’74 is when WEGYTTN was released. Doesn’t really matter but just thought would let you know.

This is actually an interview promoting Mind Games filmed on a beach in California. Pretty cool doing the interview on the beach. Believe that the beach and water were also a places peace for him.

Yoko’s absence here is largely because this was probably shot during The Lost Weekend (the long hair he has in that video seems to confirm that) when he and Yoko were separated and he was seeing May Pang. So that might be why we don’t get a Yoko sighting. John is such the badass in that black hat and coat- very Johnny Cash of John, no? -and it looks pretty clear that he enjoyed mingling with the “Nu Yawkers” here. I had actually never seen this clip before, so I enjoyed seeing it for the first time. Thanks for bringing it to the Forum.

This is the notorious Two Junkies interview. It’s often said that they were withdrawing while doing this, but maybe they were both high. I don’t know enough about heroin to make a call. They were both a mess anyway.

Continuing with the “H” theme, here’s one of the best ‘Miscellaneous John Videos’ featuring a brilliant performance by one true “Super Group”, John Lennon , Keith Richards, Eric Clapton & Mitch Mitchell. Does John & Mick Jagger’s intro here not remind you of John & Yoko’s ‘Let It Be ‘ Interview posted above?
As destructive as this vicious poison has had its effect on so many, one can’t deny the brilliance of the fruits beared by those who’ve chosen to sacrifice their souls in order for the rest of us to enjoy the experience too, I mean, ‘Yer Blues ‘ LIVE!?! With Eric, Keith & Mitch alongside John?! Even Yoko had to sit back in the audience for this one, freakin eh!…:-)

I stumbled upon this video today and it seems interesting, except I don’t quite get what John and Yoko are saying due to poor quality. Anyone else saw this before or knows anything about it?

A promotional spot John did for the late, great Tower Records in 1974 has surfaced.

Its been out there for a long time as its part of a show John did for KHJ-AM Radio in Los Angeles on the 27th September 1974 when he undertook the position of guest disc jockey whilst promoting ‘Walls And Bridges ‘ – see 11:58 into this video

I recently saw the extended version of this think he was their for an hour or more on air. Its great when he does the promotional bits and the weather. He also plays some oldies and explains how these records influenced The Beatles and similar bits they used. Very cool. I think he also did something similar with Larry Kane in Philly during this period going on air for the news.
