I read in mySpace music diary today (oh boy..):
April 24, 1976- This is the last known time John Lennon and Paul McCartney are together. The musicians and their wives were apparently watching a movie.
is this true? I won't believe it until it's in Beatles Bible History!

I believe it is correct that is the last “known” day they were together. However, we also have the story by Carl Perkins of the song “My Old Friend,” where he says the last time John saw Paul, he said “Think of me every Now And Then , old friend.” I doubt Paul would have reacted the way he did had John said that 4 years before he was killed. We'll probably never know.

They did meet on 24 April 1976. That was the night they considered going to the SNL studios but were too tired to show.
The following day, 25 April, Paul turned up at the Dakota again. He was rebuffed by John, who later said: “That was a period when Paul just kept turning up at our door with a guitar. I would let him in, but finally I said to him, 'Please call before you come over. It's not 1956, and turning up at the door isn't the same any more. You know, just give me a ring.' That upset him, but I didn't mean it badly. I just meant that I was taking care of a baby all day, and some guy turns up at the door with a guitar.” This was the last time they saw each other.

Ohh, that's somehow very sad. Did John mean that he didn't have time for Paul because he was taking care of the baby? That sounds like a triangle drama, sort of ( though I'm not sure if the third partner is Yoko or Sean)

That “You can't just show up at the door anymore” incident was recounted in The Love You Make in such a way as to make it more melodramatic – it doesn't mention that they had just seen each other the night before socially, for one thing.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I don't think they didn't call each other. I read somewhere that Paul and John had a nice phone call, either weeks or months before he died, that it was a good phone call and that comforted him, and he mentioned John's dead was more difficult for George because he didn't have the chance to talk with John about their problems.

Not sure, I know someone other than John answered the door, wondering who could have gotten passed the Lennon's security? And there was Paul and Linda.
Help me Google, you're my only hope…
How's this for a start:
John and Paul at the Dakota-April 24 and 25, 1976
Despite the New Orleans visit having come to naught, relations between
Lennon and McCartney stayed warm. On Christmas 1975, Paul and Linda
charmed their way past security at the Dakota and showed up outside the
Lennons' door, singing Christmas carols. The Macs got to meet Sean, and
from that time forward, an awful lot of their conversation dealt with
child care.
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!
