I'm not saying that he completely turned his back on his music, but I read something somewhere, maybe in John's bio by Philip Norman, where Sean talks about not being able to listen to Sgt. Pepper if a friend were to put it on or something because it would be too emotional for him. I'm sure Sean has heard ALL of John's music, but he was still robbed of a father, so it can't be easy for him.
GniknuS – I didn't recognize the new Avatar. What happened to the USS Chicka Ferdy?!?!
Ever since hearing the Anthology version of ADitL, I get a bit emotional as well – and he wasn't my father. I can't imagine what Sean, Julian, Yoko or even Cyn must feel when they hear it.
mr. Sun king coming together – Yeah, Evan – I'd be willing to bet that the songs on DF would be especially tough for him because dad probably played those on guitar around the house when he was first putting pen to paper.
As for the topic itself, I still can't get Oh Yoko! out of my head. It's not that it's a poignant song or anything, it's just so damned catchy.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Beautiful Boy just gave me some serious goosebumps. That's sad, we all see him as John Lennon the musician, but Sean probably has no memories of his real father outside of the music. You'd also figure he wouldn't be able to connect with John's music like we can because it's probably too emotional for him.
It can't be that bad. I think it's entirely possible Sean has memories of his father, and anyways, there's Yoko there to fill in the gaps. This is all conjecture, anyways, but even if John's music stirred a lot of emotions within Sean, I can't imagine him turning his back completely on it, because it came from a different point in John's life for one (before Sean), and for another, it's one of the finite things that Sean has to remember his dad by. So if the emotional attachment might not be there, the curiosity about his dad might be.

Ah, yeah, that's to be expected. Someone once told me you never get over the death of your parents, and that's pretty true. You can compartmentalize it, but it'll always be there.

I don't think you guys realize how dangerous the Sea Of Monsters is. I can't go into detail, but we had a rough night down there…I mean what am I supposed to do against things like this?
Long story short, Ringo hit the panic button again and things went terribly wrong. In the meantime, I do like this picture of John a lot, give me a week and I'm sure the USS Chicka Ferdy will be back and better than ever!

Similarly, John's songs on Milk And Honey , especially the first three. Has any artist ever released better posthumous music? Those tracks plus Free As A Bird and Real Love

John-y moment:
Last night, we were doing a “Battle of the Sexes.” There were activities geared at boys and girls, and there were boy/girl related questions.
Polythene Dan and I went up to the stage for one of the rounds, and I answered the first question right. That set the score even, and the announcer said, “Now it's like we're starting over.”
Me: “It'll be just like starting oooover.”
*9* John approves!
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

Look At Me from POB. Don't know why, I've always loved it. It's so sweet and simple and soul-searching. Oh, alliteration…
"Now and then, though, someone does begin to grow differently. Instead of down, his feet grow up toward the sky. But we do our best to discourage awkward things like that."
"What happens to them?" insisted Milo.
"Oddly enough, they often grow ten times the size of everyone else," said Alec thoughtfully, "and I’ve heard that they walk among the stars."

Nobody Loves You (When You’re Down and Out). What a gem. Love that downbeat vibe, and the vocals are spot on too. John could really tailor himself to certain songs like that. You could feel his sincerity. His solo career is so strong to me that it’s as good as his Beatles career, if not better at times. I like to think of his career as one piece, not just Beatles and non Beatles. He kept exploring certain themes. Double Fantasy and Milk And Honey prove he still had the magic.
