It’s the lyric
Hatred and jealousy, gonna be the death of me
I guess I knew it right from the start
that gets to me. Because he was right, more or less.

The lyrics are incredibly honest by John and rip apart the notion that all was great with him in ’74 without Yoko.
Sing out about love and peace
Don’t wanna see the red raw meat
The green eyed goddamn straight from your heartI’m tired, I’m tired, I’m tired
Of being so alone
No place to call my own
Like a rollin’ stone
It’s one of my favourites, if going with the ‘Anthology‘ take where you can hear a brutally bare John vocal not buried in the mix.

That lyric has always stayed with me. Also “I just manage to survive, I just wanna stay alive.”
I love this song and the way it peaks at key moments. The themes also resonate with me. As humans we are scared of being alone, and we’re emotionally scarred. But we really shouldn’t worry too much because “it is what it is.”

I have always loved this song, ever since I first listened to it. It makes me feel… un-alone. I’m not the only one who gets scared.

The older I get the more I resonate with this song and the lyrics. “I’m scared, I’m scared, I’m scared as the years roll away.”

“No bell, book or candle can get you out of this.”
No calling for help
No finding out the answer yourself
No clear path to leave
A genius lyric from The Master.
