Does anyone know where I can at least hear the acoustic version of ‘Nobody Loves You (When You’re Down And Out)’ that was issued on the 2005 reissue/remaster? That whole series bypassed me.
I should probably at some point hunt down ‘Acoustic’ yet every time I go near it it’s extortionately expensive (tho looking at Wiki I probably have it all already).
The Anthology outtake (take 19) is far better than the overdubbed and overproduced regular release (a common theme I have for most of ‘Walls And Bridges ‘).

Isn’t that on Menlove Ave ?
‘Menlove Avenue’ has a different outtake to ‘Anthology’ and ‘Acoustic’.

I have “Acoustic”. I don’t see the song listed. What am I missing here?

Nothing. I’ve managed to connect a post with two very different points into one and got it wrong. ‘NLY(WYDAO)’ isn’t on ‘Acoustic’.

Ah, ok. I’m not worried about you. When you ask if Please Please Me is on Abbey Road , then I will start being worried about you.

I consider this one of Lennon’s greatest songs. Poignant that was his last track on Walls And Bridges before his hiatus. I like the Walls And Bridges big sound treatment. I liked Long and Winding Road too. Totally with John on that.

Agree it’s one of his best. Totally him in terms of being cynical and on the downbeat side.

I love this song. i found it about a year ago before i knew the beatles and was a strict john lennon fan. i believe i was searching for an old blues song covered by clapton titled “nobody knows you when you’re down and out” but instead I stumbled across this gem. my favourite bit is that break down at the end… and this song is just another reason for me to buy an alto saxophone.

I started out as a strict Lennon fan too, listening to his solo stuff first and a lot. I’ve always been a fan of this particular song. I think it stacks up to his other work, and reminds me most of Jealous Guy , even if the tone isn’t exact.
