I spent last night going through the new videos of POB on the Lennon YT channel, fortunate that the video for Isolation , my favorite from the album is posted today.
"The pump don't work cause the vandals took the handles!"
-Bob Dylan, Subterranean Homesick Blues
"We could ride and surf together while our love would grow"
-Brian Wilson, Surfer Girl

My favourite solo Lennon song. And that’s saying something. Heartfelt and brutal simplicity.

Listened to this song a lot during the early days of lockdown, really struck a chord for obvious reasons.
I love the raw vocals and that new video, giving us a glimpse at their chaotic but somehow relaxing home!
I think it's great you're going through a phase,
and I'm awfully glad it'll all be over in a couple

I’ve heard this song a few times in the last few days listening to my new copy of the 50th box. It’s definitely one of those examples of John pouring emotion into the music that makes POB so good.

I actually got into John’s solo music before I got into The Beatles. This was the first song I heard from John so it holds a special place in my heart. Every time I hear it I either cry or get really close to crying, it’s just so beautiful. The piano, John’s vocals, the bass, percussion, it’s all perfect. I have multiple favourite lyrics from this song. “Just a boy and a little girl, trying to change the whole wide world.” “The world is just a little town, everybody trying to put us down.” “But then again, you’re not to blame. You’re just a human, a victim of the insane.” are definitely my favourites… which I now realize is basically the whole song.

I was in a little to-go restaurant and remembered as many lyrics as possible, went home and googled them because I didn’t know it was John, and it was Isolation .

This is still my favourite solo Lennon song. I love the idea we have a man sitting down at a piano with spare instrumentation saying what’s on his mind. John’s voice is the strongest instrument on the song and all it really conveys feeling. Every single time I listen to the song, and it’s been countless times, I connect with him as a person.
