Though it might have been more interesting if they’d got impersonators to do the “vocal” rather than just having the leaders lyp-sync John.

Here’s what the makers of the video say on the YouTube page for the video:

Canny AI is an early stage startup in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The company’s two founders are both ex-Israeli Army members. Canny AI is launching their VDR™(Video Dialogue Replacement) process to replace the dialogue in any footage. To demonstrate the approach, they released the video above which shows world leaders singing to John Lennon ‘s ‘Imagine ’. No copyright infringement intended. Video is solely for the purposes of artistic expression and entertainment only.

On the song……I like that it gets so much attention from people all over the world…..I like that. Make’s me feel proud of John.

I really can’t stand the song itself.

Like Yesterday ..neither are on any playlist I have. I can’t recall even one time in the digital age when I’ve actively listened to either of these songs.

I’m glad they wrote them. I’m glad they exist in the world. I’m glad people cheer them. I’m not trying to provoke an argument, or trying to be different….Just personally I noticed years back that I alway skip them.

I guess it is sort of a deepfake then.  Though not to the point of manufacturing video from scratch.

I’ll have you know I find Imagine to be a lovely song. Imo it’s one of the best of John’s solo career. And I don’t care if that’s cliché.

I’m fine with you loving it and all the world loving it….And well done for defending the song..

I just can’t pretend to myself that I like anything about it other than it’s so popular.

PS. I think I sometimes pretend to myself out of some long established loyalty that I like John’s songs more than Pauls…….Secretly I know I play some of Paul’s stuff over and over and over.

Yet A Hard Days’ Night is perhaps my fav’ Beatles album because it’s mostly John………I’m so confused!!

Love them all. Every note they wrote except……Ahh let’s forget it.

Same goes for me. Great songs by just about every measure, but I am the same that I never go out of my way to listen to them. I’m more likely to play Yesterday myself or listen to David Bowie’s Imagine cover than I am listen to either of the songs these days.

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I’m in two minds about it. Overplayed to the point of parody and annoyance, and naively idealistic. Yet a beautiful, simple song that expresses a wish for a better world well. It’s certainly not his best though.

I learned that the piano in this song was double-tracked from this video.
