Might be because Don’t Stop Believing is a better song.

I used to hate Imagine because wherever new age baby boomers are gathered together in a circle, you can bet they will be singing or playing that song.
It’s like the saccharine anthem of holier-than-thou peacenik grandmothers who don’t bathe very often.
It also bothered me that he knocks God and religion, until I found out by reading interviews that he really doesn’t–he just didn’t have time to put his whole criticism in a song lyric, so he simplified it, which I can understand.
All in all, I actually think it’s a really good song.

I think Imagine is a great song, and I don’t think that it being over-played decreases the quality of it. Imagine does the same thing for me that Yesterday does, and in the same way, which is make me really calm and happy. John has many other songs that I would rather listen to, but Imagine is still one of my favorites.

The problem with me is that it’s used to define his career. “Yesterday ” isn’t used to define the whole career of The Beatles or Paul. It’s not that it’s overplayed as much as it’s the only song played…..other than Happy Xmas, but hats only at Christmastime.

Okay? But how does that effect the quality of the song? I also never said that Imagine is to John what Yesterday is to Paul (though I do think that could be argued); I said that Imagine gives me the same feelings Yesterday does.

Yoko thought Imagine needed a better piano player than John.

As I said before, I think Imagine is a good song. I have nothing against the song itself. My problem is more with the song’s over hype. It’s really the only John song I ever hear on the radio (Besides Happy Xmas during the holidays). It’s just that the man did so much more in his solo career, and all that’s really remembered is Imagine . Like he had 10(11 if you count Milk And Honey ) albums, and only one song is remembered out of all of that is Imagine .
Also I apologize, I thought you were referring to Yesterday as being “overplayed”.

When Elvis sang Yesterday he sometimes changed the words to “I’m not the stud I used to be.”

I always thought it was weird that Elvis covered the Beatles, it’s like you’re influencing the person that influenced you, similar to how Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band was influenced by Pet Sounds, which was in turn influenced by Rubber Soul or how Black Sabbath’s late 70’s work was influenced by Queen, who was partially influenced by Black Sabbath.

I love the song, it kind of relaxes me I guess? The ending of the music video where John makes that funny face at Yoko is so incredibly cute to me. People may not like Yoko for certain things, but I really do believe her and John loved each other and that exchange at the end of the video just gets me right in the feels!

I love Yoko.
Personally for me, I think as a person, Yoko is great and has the balls to believe in and say anything she wants, regardless of whether it will piss everyone off and she was always there for John and although I don’t like her music, I don’t think she’s a bad singer and I like her vocal contributions to Birthday and Bungalow Bill.
Maybe you should try posting more.
