I dig up this ancient thread to post my appreciation of the lyric “no friends and yet no enemies, absolutely free, no rats aboard the magic ship of perfect harmony.” That, my friends, is as good as it gets. Those words ring through my head whenever I feel lonely and it puts a different perspective on things. It’s a nice little song too…especially on the stripped down version.

The track is not an instant great song but does grow as time passes, I definitely prefer it to ‘Woman ‘. The lyrics are very good as well, and it’s nice to have a nod to ‘Cry Baby Cry ‘, even tho John hated that. It’s pleasing to think of the happy place in life John had reached.

I like “Now it begins, let it begin” a lot.

I like his meaning behind it. Starting a new life by cleaning up bad habits. I can relate to that. The inversion of the duties a king and queen usually perform is clever too, obviously referencing John’s own life inside the Dakota. And as said, the Stripped Down version is superior.
