Note by Ahhh Girl 28 October 2014: I merged two thread into this one. Posts 26 and 27 were a thread titled “What type of glasses did John wear in “Rain ” and “Paperback Writer ” promotional videos?”. Post 28 was a thread titled “How I Won The War/Walls And Bridges Glasses”.
Not sure if these are available outside the UK.

(the site seems to be falling over a bit today, but refresh and you’ll get there eventually)
I’ve ordered some frames on a 7-day home trial. Ellie: “Oh God , you’re turning into a tribute band…”
The JL09B and JL10B ones look good – very retro. The first ones are in the style he wore in 1962-3 (eg https://www.beatlesbible.com/g…..lennon_001), but I can’t place the 10Bs. 1970s?

Funny, just last week I spent Thanksgiving visiting my mother (who missed seeing the Beatles at Maple Leaf Gardens in '64 because her mother wouldn't allow her to drive 200 miles to Toronto) and we were talking about those National Health glasses. She'd recently been in an optical shop where some guy was pointing out the frames and claiming that John started wearing them for political reasons – that it was his comment on socialized medicine or “welfare”, about people relying on government assistance not being provided with anything other than simple wire frames rather than something more fashionable. Or something. She overheard all this and figured that I'd be the one to ask if it was the truth. I told her about “How I Won the War”, and as for the guy's story, it was the first I'd heard of it, and that it sounded like nonsense to me. Still, who knows what John may have claimed in some random interview somewhere, especially during his political phase.
Anybody know anything about this?

Eagle Eyewear made John Lennon Glasses in the mid 90s. (Regular & Sunglasses) I bought a pair called “The Dreamer”. They were styled after the glasses he wore in the Imagine video. These were “oficially licensed” and had JL promotional displays which I asked the store to hold for me. I have them somewhere.
Look Up The Number
I got sent a 7-day trial of the frames, but they didn't suit me. Not such a bad thing – they were a bit overpriced.

I feel like I'd be showing off my naivety like a peacock if I say “There's a John Lennon line of glasses?!” I think when I was younger, I looked into getting a pair of granny glasses, but learned *much* later that rectangular frames suit me much better.
Two for one isn't too bad on those glasses, but paying about $200 for one pair would be a bit steep for me!
Sorry they didn't work out!
Just to weigh in, I like Rush OK. What I've heard basically on the radio, anyways.

Anybody else predicting that Google's homepage will incorporate a pair of Lennon glasses for their “oo” tomorrow?
