I think last year there were rumours of a remastered remixed expanded reissue of this, has it been ditched*? The 1986 mix is unlistenable with layers of sludge and loud monotonous drums, the few on ‘Anthology’ being far better.
Was listening to a rehearsal of ‘Well Well Well’ earlier which was average in sound quality but a fantastic performance, would be great to hear that in pristine quality along with whatever else. A run-through of ‘Working Class Hero ‘ surfaced a few years ago so who knows what else exists.

Similar rumours existed of a deluxe ‘Some Time In New York City ‘ (there was even a website) which also never appeared and one theory for potential problems was ‘Woman Is The ****** Of The World’.

I’d be happy with an expanded release of both shows; and yet with any renditions of that song left out (even as I prefer the live version musically to the studio, which still isn’t much.) The original is a relic from a different time, and will always be available in its original context. And I don’t care how many reactionary snowflakes complain CANCEL CULTURE!!

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

As if by sheer coincidence ‘LINYC’ is up for streaming on ‘Amazon’ as it is on John’s official YouTube channel (courtesy of ‘Daily Beatle‘).

And every song is there.

Stand by your bed posts as people jump up and down screaming at such use ignoring original context and what John was actually saying. I love the lyrics and how John was willing to take the controversy on at the time, it will be interesting to see the fallback.

To have some of these songs live, like ‘Well, Well, Well’ and ‘Instant Karma ‘, is reason enough to have it available, even if there are flaws with the performance and mixes (the same goes for George live in ’74). The “on and on and on” bit sounds fantastic.

Maybe they’re testing the waters to see whether that song can be made available without too much hostile comment in the current environment.

Live In New York City  is a good album to see whether there’s an outraged response to the song because it’s not as central to the concert as it was to Some Time In New York City .

Making it officially available again on a couple of services could be a precursor to a proper reissue of this and Some Time in NYC, both of which have been rumoured for, erm, well, some time.

Here’s a pic of John in late 1971, at a time when he recorded a demo of John Sinclair (probably with this guitar and slide):

(I need to bump a couple of JL threads for testing purposes)
