could’ve been talking about every relationship he had been in overall not just cyn and yoko. there are interviews where he had talked about some moments with cyn and the way he described how he felt in those moments was a lot like in the song.
That’s how I always interpreted it. It’s a kind of general song to everyone he’d ever hurt unintentionally because he was a jealous guy who hurt people. Heck, it could even be for Paul if you want it to be…

i like the idea of it being about paul. i saw a youtube comment that used the lyrics and cited examples of how they could fit to that hypothesis. i do like the idea, but the lyrics are vague enough to be anyone. yoko, cyn, paul, mimi, george, the pizza guy, stephen spielberg (ok, maybe not spielberg. i don’t think they met.).

He’s jealous of all the other people the pizza guy delivers to.
Maybe it was his response to Thanks For The Pepperoni .

But the pizza guy was also delivering to George, hence the song ‘Thanks For The Pepperoni ‘.

Well, yes, and John was jealous of the fact that George was getting the same delivery guy.

It’s a good thing Linda, being the cook of the house, always made her own pizza and she and Paul ate at home. Otherwise there may have been hell to pay.

Good interesting though
And it doesn’t really count as off topic because we’re technically talking about a song from Imagine … right?

Was listening to some of the raw mixes on the 2018 set and like with ‘Mind Games ‘ and ‘Walls And Bridges ‘ the songs are far better for it. ‘I Don’t Want To Be Soldier’ remains complete garbage, I hate the lyrics and it goes on far too long, but it is improved without all the gunk thrown on, especially the saxophone parts.
Yet despite my feelings on John’s material being better stripped, I’ve never cared for the stripped ‘Double Fantasy ‘ mixes.

I think this album’s fine and all, but I don’t get why it has the reputation it does
definitely much prefer POB and Mind Games and, to a lesser extent, Walls And Bridges

I think it’s more that the sing gets flack for being overplayed.

oh yeah, that’s a whole other kettle of fish
it seems to rank pretty highly amongst the solo albums though, and I think it’s like….a 7.5/10 probably?
still nothing to sneeze at, but “this is really good” is the most I get into anything and there’s a good chunk of stuff where I don’t really remember how it goes after I listen to it
will never get why Mind Games has such a mid reputation, but this isn’t the thread for that, hahahaha
