Really funny! Although then it makes you said when you realize if this really happened right now, this is probably exactly how it’d go down so they could pass some shitty teenybopper computerized pop star instead. FOOLS!

Ive never seen a minute of the voice but all these talent shows eventally turn into the same. As soon as the chairs stop spinning it stops being about the voice so whats the point. No reason viewing figures are so low.
As for this well John, Paul and George did enter talent shows and they lost. The one time I remember is them going to Manchester and having to leave before the public clapometer part was commenced.

I think so. And they had no drummer, but as they said “it’s ok…the rhythm is in the guitars!”

I’ve always imagined if John Lennon went on [put song talent TV show here]. If they didn’t know who he was I think we wouldn’t be well received because (as mentioned above) they went for some teenager with a sob story.
I'm coming down fast from miles above you.

Never really knew his Father or mother, lives with aunt, forced to choose between mother and said father aged 5 when father finally turns up and shows some interest, loses contact with Father again, chooses mother who gives him [back] to aunt and lose contact, son and mother reconnect years later but mother killed in road accident.
There’s a sob story. Even if you leave out the mum being killed you have an episode of Jeremy Kyle waiting to be filmed.
I don’t think the choice of song was right but John had a great voice. I’d vote him thru and inform him to sing different material. His attitude might be the key factor. If he went any of those talent shows and thought they were being snooty he might very well have a go right back and be booted off. That’s why he needed Paul to be the charmer. Not to say John couldn’t charm, he could and very well, you just had to catch him in the right mood.

The Carroll Levis Discovery Show. They entered as Johnny & The Moondogs in 1959. They performed Buddy Holly’s Think It Over. They didn’t exactly lose as the last bus back to Liverpool meant they couldn’t stay for the judging part.
The Val Parnell show was Val Parnell’s Sunday Night at the London Palladium. They appeared on that in 1963.

That’s right! Thanks for the correction. I was at work and was just trying to remember off the top of my head (didn’t have access to my books) and all I could remember was that it was a guy’s name that sounded like a woman’s name

Yep, I mean they would probably tell John his voice is too nasally, his accent was “funny,” and that he should stop chewing gum when he sings. And that’s before they’d criticize his songwriting.
