These are unanswerable questions of course but I’m curious about John’s thoughts about Carole King.
It’s said that when they were starting out they wanted “Lennon-McCartney” to be the “Goffin-King” of England. I wonder how he squared the fact that one of his role models was a woman, with his admitted youthful misogyny.
I’ve read that when they met, the only way he knew how to relate to her was to pretend to hit on her. But on some level he must have realised that here was a woman who was his peer long before he met Yoko.
