Happy Birthday Johnny
You were a beautiful man with a beautiful soul and I will always be grateful for how you influenced my life, as well as many others.
Sitting here with my Imagine album, listening to some of my favourite songs by John… “Im My Life” came just ended
Ugh, too many John feels tonight.
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

Anyone going to be in NYC on October 6th? @Into the Sky with Diamonds?
Yoko Ono Plans Largest Human Peace Sign for John Lennon’s 75th Birthday
“Ono hopes to congregate between 6,000 and 10,000 people on October 6th at Central Park’s East Meadow to form the human peace sign, which would set a Guinness World Record. “

Okay call me a cynic if you will, but can someone PLEASE explain to me why birthdays of (famous) people continue to be celebrated after they die? John isn’t having any more birthdays, so why wish him a happy birthday? I can understand celebrating the fact he was born on that day in 1940, but many people will wish him a happy birthday. Even though it’s a month away, everybody knows the ‘Happy 75th birthday, John!’ messages will be plastered all over the internet when the day comes. It just seems wrong to me to do that.

I don’t give out birthday and Christmas cards because it is “the thing to do”. I do it because I enjoy giving the greetings to my friends.

So is it better to get a card, a text message, a phone call or a present? Or does it not matter? Is there a scale depending on the level of friendship and familiarity?
I happily admit all of it is a mystery to me.

Presents for some family and some friends. And sometimes I randomly get a gift for someone if I see something I want to give them that I think will make them happy.

I am one of those who readily wish the dearly departed a Happy Birthday . It does feel weird when doing so, however. Any suggestions for alternatives?
“Acknowledging the day you were born, John!”
“Contented wishes on this day of remembrance, John!”
Hmmmm…I think I’ll stick with Happy Birthday – sue me.
