Things he would have loved: Twitter, YouTube, Amazon Kindle (he would have written/self-published ebooks im sure of it), Curb Your Enthusiasm (he probably would have made an appearance).
Things he would have loathed: George Bush, The War In Afghanistan, Guitar Hero.
He probably would have been very persuasive with the whole iTunes thing and if Angelina Jolie could become UN Ambassador, why no Lennon? I know who i’d rather see.

Hello, yes I’m from Liverpool born and raised. In fact, on my way to work each morning my bus drives through Penny Lane , Menlove Avenue (John’s home) and I work round the corner from the Cavern Club. Although the original Cavern Club was knocked down years ago and someone opposite renamed their pub The Cavern, so the tourists THINK it’s the same Cavern The Beatles went to (but it really isn’t.)
On my bus home I go past Strawberry Fields. For me, its not so special or strange, but I suppose its because I’ve seen it everyday for 29 years:)

Wow, welcome to the forum @Mistermark21 . I think, if I am correct, that you are the first Liverpudlian to have joined the forum. Congratulations on becoming the Forumpudlian now!

@Oyster Black Pearl is a Liverpudlian. That’s why I PM’d him today to tell him about our new member. I’m glad OBP jumped into the conversation. He has some nifty information to share with us when he gets a free moment. He has been a busy guy!

Thanks guys
I think Guitar Hero would have really annoyed John… especially The Beatles guitar hero they brought out. Pressing 4 buttons in different combinations when that time could be spent actually learning to play a REAL guitar.
He’d have written/sang about 9/11 im absolutely sure of that. Probably would have stuck up for Marilyn Manson when he got blamed for the Columbine school killings.

It is interesting to wonder how John would have responded to 9/11. There has to be a good chance that he would still be a New Yorker, even if not it would have been his main home for over a decade (1971-1981). I think he would have been outraged and devastated that his city had been attacked in such a disgusting and cowardly way. I also think, and this may be a point of disagreement between me and many of you, that he would have had little disagreement with the reasons for the invasion of Afghanistan (a rogue nation sheltering Bin Laden, and allowing him to plan his next attack from there), though would have regretted its necessity.
There is a misconception, in my opinion, about John and his stance on war. He was someone who recognised that it is sometimes necessary. There is a quote from one of his last interviews that often gets overlooked because it showed that he saw things as much more complicated than just Give Peace A Chance .
Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King are great examples of fantastic nonviolents who died violently. I can never work that out. We’re pacifists, but I’m not sure what it means when you’re such a pacifist that you get shot. I can never understand that.
Obviously, like Paul, he probably would have quickly soured with where Bush and Blair took things, and would quickly have become very outspoken against the direction things were headed in, and the mistakes being made. I think that, as some here have suggested, it’s far too simplistic to suggest he would automatically have been against the invasion of Afghanistan because he was into peace.

If John was here today…
…would he be debating Paul over who wrote what percentage of each Beatles song?
…we wouldn’t have Paul’s lovely song ‘Here Today ‘.
…would he still be living in NYC exclusively?
…would he have been “Heather Millsed” by Yoko?
…I would hope that his relationship with Julian would have been strengthened.
All interesting thoughts upthread. Nice topic idea, LSDTripper.

I doubt either John or Paul would have been debating who wrote what as they wouldnt be that bothered over it. Paul seems to be doing so only because he feels (with good cause) John gets more respect for the Beatles work than he does and is trying to balance it out.
I’d trade Here Today for John being here today in a billisecond.
I’d like to think having been so close to Sean and seeing him grow up John would have sought to get closer to Julian and work thru any diffficulties they had.

Perhaps he would have made an effort to better his relationship with Julian. The undivided attention that Sean received was because John had ignored Julian when he most needed him.
And oh, if that were to happen then maybe I’d be more optimistic and say…wish that there would have been a concert featuring John, Julian and Sean as a sort of a display of support from John to his sons.

I hadn’t considered that. How cool would THAT have been?

“The Lennons” would’ve made a good sitcom – the wacky adventures that happen when Julian & Sean both move in with John & Yoko! Sean’s the wisecracking sarcastic one, John’s the put-upon, Cosby-style one (with a similar gift for sarcastic wisecracks), Julian’s the angsty rebellious one, and Yoko’s the feared-by-all mother who’s never seen (we just hear her voice offstage).
