Nope – not a ‘bad’ at all.
Something posted in the news thread is basically just a “hey, look what I found”. It’s a great place to post news items regarding the boys.

parlance does a great job with that – I go there for Beatles news myself, because it saves me the time of scouring the web looking for news items (thanks, parlance!).

If you want to start a proper discussion on anything, including an article in the news thread, there is no harm in starting new thread. Not everyting posted there is ‘threadworthy’, but a lot of them are.
