I’ll bet you wish Yoko would re-package both albums keeping hers and John’s songs separate!
Would be nice but actually it doesnt bother me as i just cut them out or buy per download and not get hers. I didnt bother with the 2010 remasters as i was satisfied with the 2004 ones tho i do have DF Stripped (not that i like it that much but it cost £2.50 for all Johns songs without having to buy Yoko’s).

I have listened to john’s solo career very much in the last time and I simply love it. I can’t say if I prefer his solo music over paul’s because it’s so different but I really love both’s

I put Johns songs from Double Fantasy and Milk And Honey together in itunes since they are from the same sessions and they make a really strong collection of songs.
That’s a great idea – looks like I need to create another playlist.

Im a total nerd when it comes to organising my beatles collection and it was bugging me having the two albums seperate so i amalgamated them both together. Ive hacked all compilations to death for all beatles related stuff as well – apart from Live At The BBC .

As am I – we should form a support group. “Hi my name is Zig and I am a playlist-oholic”.
Example: After loading all of the Lennon Box Set CD’s into my iTunes/iPod, I created a separate playlist with just my faves from each album and named it “Go Johnny Go”. I love creating playlists. Just this weekend, I took all of the live recordings from Anthology and Live At The BBC and created a live album.

I really like Cold Turkey , as it counts as one of the few proper “songs” that John did while still technically a Beatle. Very intense stuff, too.
Hey, I was going to say Cold Turkey , too, but the timing of it didn’t occur to me until you mentioned it, which is extra-cool!
I imagine Paul singing backup on that chorus part, or a ‘lost’ track from The White Album .
Technically, it’s an amazing production, but “intense” is a perfect description.
Is John playing the lead on that, too?
Speaking of which, my all-time favorite Lennon Lead is that grimy, slinky jazz solo on I Want You! I remember reading John bragging about it, something like ‘I can make it howl when I want to.” He certainly could.

I’ve pretty sure Clapton plays the lead on both the live and studio versions of Cold Turkey .

I’ve always thought the same…

Eric Clapton is on lead but John could easily play it.

Not sure if we have different definitions of “lead” here, but I’ve always believed it’s John playing that main riff, and Eric playing the solo (such as it is). It doesn’t sound at all like an Eric Clapton Riff to me. Too noisy.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Anything from John’s first solo album Plastic Ono Band – particularly Hold On , Working Class Hero or Isolation . And how about #9 Dream from Walls & Bridges – such a superb song and the production quality is superb. That initial guitar sound which opens the track with those strings makes for a sublime song. John was a brilliant producer as well as a genius songwriter.
I also love the original demos’ of Free As A Bird , Real Love and especially Now & Then. All beautiful, intimate songs with just John & piano and they stand on their own – first two are better than the Beatle produced versions for me – i think its the immediacy which makes them better for me. I hope Beatle Paul will get round to releasing the Beatle version of Now & Then someday – maybe the ‘last Beatle track’.

Penny!!!! Welcome back.
Listened to the Lennon Box Set over the weekend. The more I hear “Out Of The Blue “, the more I love it. Without getting too sappy, lines like “I was born just to get to you” make me think of my own relationship with Zag. Another one is Macca’s “Calico Skies” when he sings “It was written that I would love you from the moment I opened my eyes”.
Those songs tug at the ol’ ticker every time.

If I had to pick one favorite, it would have “Grow Old With Me .” I don’t like to admit this, but I cried the first time I heard it…

I still cry now, I hate listening to those songs or interviews when he talks about growing old or being alive forever or seeing his son grow come of age. It´s like he was robbed of that chance.
