This thread makes me sad.
If John and Yoko said they loved each other, then they did. No other opinion matters and it is NOT our place to judge. I thought basic human decency taught us all that.
If every little move we made with our spouses were under a microscope and scrutinized the way they were from ’66-’73 and again from ’75-’80. would the majority of people here come across as a perfectly “Healthy” example of love? I highly doubt that.
I don’t think a man who doesn’t love a woman nearly drinks himself to death in despair at the thought of having lost her forever, and I don’t think a woman who doesn’t love a man goes through half of the pure unadulterated HELL she went through from complete strangers every single day for having just been in his proximity for too long by their impossibly high standards. I don’t think she then raises a child with him for six years and makes an album showing her complete dedication to both of them , capping it off with “Hard Times Are Over” as they both look to the future. I don’t think she, in the wake of his brutal and senseless murder, would stand with her head held high and show the world his bloodied glasses in an act of protest to say, “This is all i have left of him now, so LOOK AT IT. SEE the inhumanity! LOOK. AT. IT.” for someone she didn’t love,
Please, my fellow fans. Whatever you think of Yoko and any perceived flaws she and John might have had in your estimation, do not pretend the two didn’t give their all to each other as much as any two imperfect beings could have been asked to. Were they always happy together? No. No couple ever is. It doesn’t mean they weren’t meant for each other, and it doesn’t mean they didn’t care for each other. YES: Yoko loved John. Thank goodness for it, too. Had it not been for her, who knows if he would have ever found happiness.

I agree wholeedly with Matt!
I hate to cite a monster, but it shows how deeply Yoko felt. John’s murderer said years later in an interview that he doesn’t remember much that happened after he shot those fatal shots — except he heard what sounded like a “primal scream”. That was Yoko, after that monster ripped her heart out.

Yes indeed, there was much more of an anti-Yoko sentiment in the forum’s earlier days, a decade plus ago, as this depressing thread reveals. I think Joe or someone created a special dedicated thread for folks to say nice things about her – or was it a thread to say nasty things?
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.
