I just finished The Last Days of John Lennon by Frederic Seaman, and he paints a pretty grim picture of Yoko Ono. Up til now I had only read books that Yoko approved. After reading the book, I think that John loved Yoko, or at the very least needed her emotionally.
But Seaman paints Yoko very negatively…always spending John’s money, constantly on the phone from morning to night, never available to have lunch with John (who had to make appointments to see her). According to Seaman, she was very depressed when she found out she couldn’t have another child, which must have been a way to further control John, because, according to the book she had no interest in Sean whatosever, was almost never with him, and her only parental guidance was to tell the staff to give him whatever he wanted. She had an affair with Sam Green right under John’s nose. And, apparently she didn’t even mourn when John died. It was just business as usual and immediately using his posthumous surge in popularity to make money.
Is this true? Do these things mean that she didn’t love John? He had affairs as well, such as the one with May Pang. It’s hard to say.
Mod note: the user then goes on something of a bitchfest. It’s been edited as a spoiler so people can ignore it if they wish. It would normally have been deleted, but various people have posted responses already.
first of all, of course yoko loved john, what an absurd question. they loved each other very famously. it simply is not possible for any heterosexual woman to NOT love john, he was rich, famous, handsome, creative, dynamic, successful, witty and an alpha male. there is no woman who would not love him and probably every single gay man too. impossible to not love john if he was in your orbit making some woman feel special, that would be impossible. such a moronic question. as far as this guy fred seaman goes, why isn’t that bitch typing letters, doing laundry or picking up some freaking butter instead of even noticing how much time his employer is spending on the phone, is it that little bitches business, why isn’t he washing the dishes or something like that, how dare that little bitch even have an opinion on how much she is on the phone, that little bitch. how is it that little bitches business who is eating lunch with whom, that little bitch should be walking the dog, little bitch. and how would seaman know why yoko was depressed about not being able to have another child, why should i have to hear what this little bitch who should be answering the phone or getting the doorbell thinks how yoko feels about her childbearing, what a little bitch. how is it possible that little bitch has an opinion how much john’s WIFE is spending THEIR money, that little bitch should matching the socks or vacuuming, that little bitch, yoko’s shopping is that little bitches business. what is wrong with this little bitches picture. Gee, that is funny, sean is very loving and devoted in every respect to his mother, she must’ve done something right. how is the relationship between mother and son even this little bitches business when he should be out buying the butter instead of making moronic assessments about their dynamic. he seems to love her to pieces and that didn’t happen because she had no interest in him, was almost never with him and etc. that little bitch, unbelievable. i question this little bitches observations which includes yoko having an affair with sam green. they were friends for many years and may have been just that and this bitch fred go fetch the butter bitch is probably not an authority on any affair she had, her relationship with her son, her feelings about motherhood. sam green was also reported to have had an affair with greta garbo, which was a lie and moronic tabloid gossip from some bitch who should be picking up the groceries and answering the phone, that little bitch. and the idea that yoko didn’t mourn johns death, i find it hard to believe this little bitch who should be busy doing the laundry and picking up the dry cleaning would know the degree of her suffering. that little bitch. where the hell is your bullshit thermometer. can’t you hear a bullshit racisit bitch when you hear one. and the utter irony of that little bitch characterizing her as using his posthumous surge in popularity to make money when this little bitch is using his proximity to john to make money from his absence and victimize her with this freakish character assassination, little bitch. unbelieveable. how moronic. yes she loved him, no woman would not love john if he was in her orbit, worshiping her, writing songs for her, forsaking all others for her, how utterly moronic. yes she loved him. and this bitch who should be fetching the butter and answering the door has no business having an opinion about how much she is on the phone that little bitch.

Did you really need to use the word bitch 29 times, it’s one thing to say a bad word but that’s excessive. Also, like LPD said calm down, i needed a text to speech converter just to read your post and it wasn’t even worth reading IMO. Hopefully this isn’t like you and if you continue posting you write posts that are shorter and less profane.

First, did John love Yoko? Sure. As a guy, I can relate. We’re simple. We’re like puppy dogs. (That’s GUY puppy dogs, @yourmajesty.) Did Yoko love John? I remember the magnitude of scorn and ridicule the world heaped on her while the band were still together let alone when most if not all of the breakup was blamed on her. To have endured all of that for money, fame, etc. with no love thrown in the mix would require a coldness of soul I shudder to think about. The guy in me says sure.

He sent me a PM repeating his whole post and also saying how stupid and moronic my original post was. Apparently the mods are okay with that.

I approved yourmajesty post before reading it fully. My bad. Lesson learned.
@Joe, may we delete the offensive post and kill the account since the person has harassed people via the PM system?

As far as I am aware the mods had no idea you, or anyone else, had been PM’d in such a manner.
Personally, I feel its sometimes better to let the world see such views instead of suppressing them. With the new information, however, it will be discussed again and we will act accordingly.
If anyone receives any PM’s or reads any posts they feel are inappropriate in any way please do not hesitate to inform the mods, preferably all four. We will then decide as a four what to do.

I don’t think it makes a difference. It seems to me that he only made the account after being triggered by this thread and needed to voice his views on it. I got a PM from his as well and it’s evident that he’s just really passionate about this topic.

Thanks for the level-headed response.
Speaking for myself, I have no problem with passionate replies. What we could do without is the repetitive use of derogatory terms – I got it after the second “bitch”, thank you very much. If PMs are being sent, I only ask they are kept civil. If anyone is unhappy with content public or private, please report it through channels and not in the open Forum. Other than that, let’s not create any undue fuss or drama.
Thank you all.

I did report it through proper channels. Ahh Girl said she had notified the mods of the post and the PM, and then I waited a few days and nothing happened.
Thats why I wrote, “apparently the mods are okay with it.” I wouldn’t assume the mods were aware of something unless they were notified and had time to view it.

I certainly wouldn’t be happy with anyone using the PM system to criticise me for a point of view I had put forward openly and publicly on the forum, and had @Expert Textpert not felt it necessary to publicly air his dissatisfaction over this, we wouldn’t know that everybody who criticised that first post received a similar email.
If you disagree with a point of view someone expresses on the forum, make your response on the forum, don’t chase them into the PM system to further criticise them; that, to me, crosses the line about not getting personal in your criticism of other members of the forum.

The subject of whether racism was a part of the reaction to Yoko’s relationship often crops up, and it’s often rejected by those who don’t want to believe their view of Yoko is in any way influenced by earlier views that may have been based on racist opinion.
It’s often difficult to find examples of the more racist reactions to Yoko, as they were usually much more subtle than this example, printed by Esquire (hardly known for its extremist journalism) in September 1970:
Now, try imagine any major publication using that headline now…
