As for astrology, I just happen to believe that man is a universe in miniature. “As above, so below.”
Universe at play inside your DNA, and you’re a billion years old today. Oh, the Rising Sun…

Yes it would be comforting to think that there’s a plan……And someone has worked it out………and actually understands the creator….and what he/she wants. That he cares about how we dress……what we eat……what positions we make love in………..
A creator who’s master-plan has ensured that 99% of all the life on earth……. that has developed from carbon stardust…… has become extinct.
Or we can chose to be comforted by the alignments in a universe of decaying galaxies, exploding suns and cold planets……..That is ever expanding until it’s swallowed into a black hole.
…..As John says…..’better help yourself’

Fun fact: Black holes probably won’t swallow everything since they don’t last forever and evaporate eventually. Everything will start to get cold and matter will separate so the universe will consist of a bunch of paricals.

Was John’s relationship with Yoko better than with Cynthia?

Yes
I’ve never tried to compare the relationships – both were far from perfect – so I neither agree nor disagree. But, out of sheer curiosity, what reasons do you cite for the “yes”?

Also, did he ever truly love Cynthia? If so, how did he express it with being away from home most of the time?
EDIT: Along with that, I find it interesting that John wrote/dedicated a lot of songs to Yoko and yet never (as far as I know) did for Cynthia. Would this be because Yoko collaborated with him or a lack of affection towards Cynthia?
Hopefully you don’t mind answering so many questions, but you’re the walking encyclopedia in this section.

He didn’t hit Yoko, and he didn’t abandon the child he had with her.

That’s an interesting question. John’s aunt Mimi claimed that Cynthia pushed herself on John. She told about Cynthia coming around the house and John hiding because he didn’t want to see her. That doesn’t sound like the start of a good relationship to me.
That certainly seems to jive with the accounts I’ve read of Cynthia being infatuated with John at art school and pursuing him. But she was very prim and proper, not the rebellious type at all like John. Opposites attract?
I think he probably loved Cynthia at one time. It certainly seems that way when you look at the letters he wrote to her. But I don’t think it was a lasting love–maybe infatuation? Things like that are hard to know.
There was also the fact that Brian tried to hide John’s marriage from the fans. It’s hard to have a happy marriage when you’re never there and when you’re not even supposed to be married, right? Plus, John was never faithful.
I think he was well matched with Yoko, who wasn’t faithful either.

The same Yoko who supposedly made a bee-line for John and sent him a ton of letters/postcards and such after she tried to get to Paul first?
And John wasn’t faithful to Yoko, its one of the reasons for his Lost Weekend – Yoko kicked him out.

Right, neither one was faithful to the other, unlike the situation with Cynthia, where one was faithful and one wasn’t.
But in the case of Cynthia, I think he was sleeping around because he had fallen out of love with Cynthia, which was never the case during the Lost Weekend. Whenever he got drunk, he shouted out Yoko’s name.
As far as Yoko making a beeline and trying to get to Paul first, those are all second-hand accounts. You don’t see John or Yoko saying those things. So we don’t know whether they are true or not.

There are enough different sources saying that Yoko first attempted to get to Paul that it cant just be thrown out and since it doesn’t fit into the johnandyoko story there is zero chance of Yoko ever saying it – and who can blame her? But then John and Yoko aren’t the greatest sources for the John and Yoko story; the interviews they gave when promoting ‘Double Fantasy ‘ prove they settled on a story even tho large sections were fictitious.

That still wouldn’t change the fact that John chose Yoko over Cynthia.
The people telling that story are all people who dislike Yoko, though, or did at the time. So you have to look at that when examining what was said. Would it benefit them to discredit Yoko?

Or it could be the truth and just doesnt fit into the johnandyoko story which they wanted folk to swallow without thought. We know that John and Yoko were not always honest about what they said, or didnt say, in regards to their relationship so we cant just accept everything they say and throw out anything that might contradict said story.

Well, I think this sort of summarises how I think this need in us all works…………
A priest was walking along a cliff-top admiring God ‘s work……..When he slipped and fell over the edge. He managed to grab a branch and held on for dear life. Hanging helplessly he called out…
“God please save me.”
A deep voice answered from above……..”I am the one true God , creator of all…….. Let go of the branch. You will fall and be smashed to pieces on the rocks below but tonight you will sit by my side in Heaven.
And the priest cried out……..”Is there anyone else up there that can save me?”
