From what i’ve read and can remember Chapman became obsessed that John was a fraud and a sell-out, influenced in part by John’s “bigger than Jesus” comments, and ended up replaying Beatles music over and over.
Chapman had a list of targets but settled on John, one reason being the lack of security around John making it easier to get close-up. The only thing he had when arrested was a copy of The Catcher In The Rye so no Beatles tapes, records, books etc.

That is the mainstream media version of the story. That’s not what I read in the book, Who Killed John Lennon ? by Fenton Bresler. Don’t discount it before you read it, it seems very well researched and the author doesn’t make any outlandish claims.

Or else it’s what happened, while people search for conspiracies, because some certified “whack job” can just buy a gun in almost every American state and then blow away whoever they want.

That is true, and it very may well have been just the fact that Chapman was crazy and decided to kill him. However, there are many factors which make other alternatives seem quite plausible as well.

Mythbusters did an episode on the fake moon landingI loved the Mythbusters on the fake fake moon landing! It was good how they disproved the fake moon landing and proved it was real!
I’ve never seen that one, though I guess that I don’t follow the series as much as I used to. I’ll have to check that out.

Did they explain how NASA was able to get a metal space craft with Humans onboard through the Van Allen Belts without any shielding against relativistic particles? and on the way back too?…:-)
I didn’t think so, even in today’s day and age no World SuperPower has yet been able to solve this problem, the biggest obstacle in getting Humans beyond Lower-Earth Orbit and the technology sure as hell didn’t exist back in 1969. Until this immense barrier to Humans going beyond Lower-Earth Orbit has been overcome, the distances that Humans can travel into Space will continue to be limited to places where they can have protection from Cosmic Radiation tucked under Earth’s Magnetosphere such as the usual Space Walks and I.S.S. Missions, any other stories, pictures, or claims to have done otherwise are Science-Fiction for TV Shows, “Next”..:-)

How come no one questions when people got humans in to space before. The moon landing isn’t the first time humans got into space the first human in space was Yuri Gagarin in 1961. I could see that by 1969 we could make a rocket that would let people fly to the moon

If they went to the moon, why did they never go back? Why aren’t there people doing things on the moon all the time?
There’s nothing to do. They don’t need to go there anymore because it’s literally a rock like any other, and it costs billions to even go there. There’s no point, sadly.

I had a student one time who wanted to do a paper about growing food on the moon. We didn’t find a lot of research-based information to help him with the assignment. He ended up changing topics.

If the government had paid billions of dollars to send your student to the moon, he could have done the research he wanted, and maybe we would all be satisfied that Stanley Kubrick didn’t fake the moon landing. Two birds with one stone.

Wild thread, John would of had the aliens in his palm. So they would of went after Paul, George. or Yoko. I dk much about the other claims. I do believe John had a feeling he was going to die young and violently
Why wouldn’t they go after Ringo?

…There could be an action-packed book out of this. HELLO, DOCTOR WHO/BEATLES CROSSOVER IDEA
I don’t believe in aliens but other people do, so who knows, maybe such outside forces planned it, urged Chapman to do it, who knows!
John was so outspoken and into strange things that he was often asking for trouble, and by not protecting himself as most celebs do does seem to fit how back-and-forth and contradictory he was. To do things differently and openly as a celebrity means you’re going to attract some wrong people to you.
I’m undereducated about John and his late career – was he doing something revolutionary again? Was he that hated in 1980? Was he reverting to early Beatle days in everything he did instead of doing what Yoko wanted him to do? Yoko was not there, then. How frightening that must have been for her. Surely “starting over” in a pre-Yoko/non-Yoko world was not in her plans.
@StrawberryFieldsForever, I agree that if he was under so much surveillance, it would be odd that he could be so easily taken. But that assumes that the watchers were friendly forces looking out for him. Or maybe there was an alien war and the baddies won and so carried out their plan.
I’m new on this forum and I am a reborn Beatles fan; one of my burning questions was if anyone believes Yoko Ono planned his death, and it was touched on. But did she plan it with Chapman? I don’t think she or he is an alien; she’s a very shrewd and controlling female, & maybe he was really crazy. However, Yoko was always trying to find cultish people and strange new things to ‘help’ John… maybe she contacted aliens or reached out to people who could? With May Pang, drugs, creativity trouble, maybe ennui for Yoko?, “starting over”… maybe John was done in Yoko’s mind? Couldn’t contribute to her cause anymore? I hate to say things like that about anyone but she was so controlling and possessive of him…
Is there any proof that Chapman was a believer of aliens? Was he tied to any extraterrestrial cults that Yoko had discovered?
I like grapes!

But see, when we associate such things with Yoko as we do, are we not implying that she was seeking fame of the sort that John enjoyed? Because if she was just after money or power she could have had it by other means, idk, but why John? If yes then I dont understand the argument cause tbh we don’t see her, at least I don’t, as an avant garde artist who has/is still contributed/contributing something huge. In other words, what has she really gained in the aftermath?
