I’m reading the book Liddypool (discussed here)

Hum, do you know why I’m reading that book? Anyway…

William Faron Ruffley shares this story:

What is your recollection of John Lennon ?

We were great friends and he, like many others, would sleep over at my house, and my mum would look after us all. When I see things in books stating that John was a homosexual then I can say it’s absolute rubbish. We once shared a bed with three girls and, believe me, there was not a gay bone in his body – I know.
(snip)

There’s much more to the answer but that was the pertinent part to this thread.

That’s not a very convincing argument.

I googled him but couldn’t find anything -only that he was a musician. How is he relevant here, @vonbontee?

The quote I put in post 321 indicates that the party happened when John was a teenager.

He probably hadn’t come to terms with his gayness at that point.

I just thought his logic was hilarious. “Some thing happened one time, therefore that same thing happened every time! Also, I am irresistible to gay men.”

Coming to this thread for the first time today I’ve only gotten through the first 5 pages….. and this one………..

From what i’ve read so far……Being married to Yoko would turn any man gay.

You didn’t read that here, did you?

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I know its been written before by someone else but every time this topic comes up to the surface again i want to write “who cares”. I fail to see what influence or significance it would have on John and his legacy and persona if the answer was either a definitive yes or no.

I think there’d be some interest in giving certain of John’s songs lyrical re-readings if he were proven to be predominately gay. Like, “Hmm, ‘You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away ‘…aha!”

Agree and It’s why I haven’t been interested enough in this discussion to bother to open the thread and see what’s being argued.

Though having done so I found from page one the shift from John’s possible leanings to ‘dakota revelations’ regarding Yoko’s life and John’s ‘existence’ there very interesting and for me at least quite sad. I was also very impressed by a number of posters……Particularly ‘Drbeatle’ and certainly not least…. Expert Texpert who in those first 5 pages honestly confronted her own bias towards Yoko.
