So I was recently watching the two appearances John and Yoko made on the Dick Cavett show, the second one being where they explain bagism with their two bag-wearing friends in the audience. I was thinking about it, and being on the forum is similar to being in a bag. Very few of us have met in person, and only a handful have posted pictures of themselves. While we talk about nationality pretty often and ethnicity a bit, we don’t really discuss race. (Which I find great because I think everyone just needs to shut up and let everyone be equal in the real world and stop creating more distinctions between humans that stretch beyond character.) And speaking of character, that’s all we have to judge each other by on the forum. We don’t know what race you are, how old you are, how tall you are (well there is the height thread), what you dress like, who you do (or don’t) surround yourself with, all we can gather from each other’s written words are our personalities.
Although I doubt any of is would feel any differently if we were to find these things out about people, (For example, we know the ages of many forum members and that doesn’t effect our discussions other than the experiences that time frame has allowed that person to have.) it is still nice to be in the metaphorical bag as it really allows us to see everyone for who they really are, not who they appear to be at first glance.
My thought was to make this about bagism as the forum metaphor, but that could be a short conversation and bagism itself is interesting, so this is the place to discuss Forum Bagism and real life Bagism.

I’m pretty sure that a pretty decent and accurate profile of some of the users here could be formed from sifting thru their posts (if they have posted honestly, often and gotten to a reason number). We say more than we realise and then are surprised when someone mentions it further on down the line.
And lets not forget that we are being monitored by some guy in a cupboard working for the Government (or Apple) – “Hello!!! Hope you’re well and not too bored” – who will be collecting information on all of us.

I do realize that, and I thought about it while typing, but if you talked with a person in a bag for a while you’d find out a lot about them. Just thought the bag things was interesting and that this was kind of similar.
And Apple is closely monitoring you Better be careful what you say! Since we’re all from different countries does that mean all our governments are watching?

Though in a bag you hear what they sound like and here you don’t (for the most part)

Interesting points and connections. I have longer hair for a guy and know for a fact it made people in my office think I was lazy/burnout. I swear I also get pulled over more because of it. It is nice to be part of online community with none of that. I bet some members do get ideas of what other members are like. Ya know like character assumption based of comments.

… Not unlikely.

Apple are interested in The Beatles fans money; if they were interested in the fans they would be far more proactive, imaginative and rewarding in what they release music-wise (lets just ignore all the merchandise crap that they allow to be shoveled out). Anyone want another remastered vinyl? ‘Reel Music‘ hasn’t seen a release in 32 years, how about that? Comes exclusively without any bonus tracks and without the unique ‘I Should Have Known Better ‘ edit.

Oh. Of course the Government are interested in the Beatles and their fans as they are the spokesmen for the people who they responsible for and to, seeking the best for their country and addressing the wrongs that plague society.

So I was recently watching the two appearances John and Yoko made on the Dick Cavett show
The Bagism “concept” is kinda hard to grasp but just as easily understood just the same, the Dick Cavett shows in juxtaposition with the David Frost shows provide a broader scope to digest, especially John & Yoko’s first appearance in 1968 during the ‘You Are Here’ exhibition which gives a nice “pre-cursor” (or, Harbinger!) of things to come. For those who struggle with John’s rediscovered passions for “alternative” Artistic Expression during this time, he does incite the audience to sing-along to one of his most beloved Beatles’ tunes during the closing credits, showing us all that he still wasn’t quite yet ready to abandon his preferred artistic medium:
Their appearance several months later on David’s show left me somewhat bewildered though, but their commitment to spreading their most unique “gospel” is undeniably Genuine:
…:-)
