I read an interview once where Mimi was saying that at the beginning of their relationship, John would often hide when Cynthia came around. She said that they started dating basically because Cynthia was so pushy and pushing herself on John.
I don’t know why Mimi would say that, unless she created that little gem to try and hide the fact that John was the pursuer. I’ve read that in Tune In by Mark Lewisohn and Lennon by Ray Coleman. Did they both get it wrong?

I’ve read that article, but I don’t know where to find it. But frankly, it seems made up to me, considering she “supposedly ” said that John was scared of Cynthia. No bigger lol than that.
EDIT: Here it is:

Wait . Are we talking about the dark-haired mousey Cynthia Powell that Lennon turned into a blond, tight-clothes wearin’ Bridget Bardot look-alike? He was afraid of her?
Hrmm.

Shocking news -Cynthia was a brunette?

I’m failing to appreciate the faux outrage.

She looked better as a brunette.
Anyway, according to her, she dyed her hair blonde to impress John, not coz he asked her to. The picture posted tells another story, however
Anyway, yeah, shocking that he or anyone else for that matter could be scared of Cynthia – brunette or blonde

Lennon was crazy in love with cynthia, the idea that she coerced him in some way into a relationship is ridiculous. Cynthia’s own family background was quite an overbearing one too and i think that john represented a kind of freedom to her that she found attractive hence why she pursued him so avidly. I think deep down john was quite a shy person, and he was probably equally thrilled and scared to have a young woman throwing herself at him like that…………which is probably where mimi was coming from.

That could be a good explanation to Mimi’s remarks. Hmmm…
Anyway, what I’ve understood from John’s relationship with women is that he didn’t give 2 hoots about those who couldn’t stand up for themselves and walked all over them, while he respected those who stood up for themselves and did dare to put him in line when needed. That’s probably why he loved and respected Yoko, apart from other things. Besides, strong women were the kind he liked and was used to – Mimi and Julia , for example.

Mimi used to do that charleston dance that john later copied…
I often wondered where that originated. Thanks!

They both together had to be a good laugh when they were in the right mood
That’s the impression I get as well. I’m sure there were many good times in the household. Unfortunately, we mostly here about the negatives because that is what sells. Mimi fascinates me.
