this is interesting .. a handwritten letter from John to the New York Times in response to an article about the Beatles “ripping off” black music.

..apart from the content of the letter I think it's interesting as he may have written it on the flight he & Yoko took to the USA when leaving the UK for the last time..

In Flight… yes
Altitude… puzzled
Location… yes
I.
But seriously, I remember reading in You Never Give Me Your Money that someone convinced/guilted John into paying a lot of money for benefiting from black artists all those years… I'll look it up, but it's interesting that he would be offended by the idea in this situation but not in the other.
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

cornflake – Nice to see you back where you belong.
Thanks very much for sharing that. Every time I see something handwritten by John, it sends chills down my spine.
That very well could have been the flight in question. According to the history section on this glorious website, it would fit the timeline.
14 September 1971 – Date letter was written
What an amazing contrast of events that occurred just a year apart on Johnny’s birthday.
Christ, I love this stuff. How can anyone not love The Beatles?
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Thanks Zig.
yes , actually I think this site says he left the UK in August but I think I read afterwards it was in September. Maybe he took more than one trip to and from USA in that short time. Will check.
Anyway there's another very chilling letter from John on that site….

May he rot in jail, and then rot in Hell.
