^^ Same here. Taking a while to load. And sometimes when I quote someone, the quote format doesn’t appear in full, so I have cancel my reply and reload.

Yes, I’ve noticed some slowness recently. Not sure what the problem is, but if it persists I’ll look into it.

I’ve also noticed the slowness, and, this may be connected, when browsing as a guest (I only tend to log in to post), some pages not loading fully. Seeing a post that interests me, I’ll click on the last post button to take a look, and only a part of the page will load. Can try it several times and just keeps doing the same. As soon as I log in, the page will load fully. It doesn’t happen all the time, but at least three or four times a week, and it is usually only one out of the list of recent posts. I thought it was just a problem with my connection (Vodafone mobile hasn’t been good in recent weeks). If this is happening with other guests though, it may put them off the site.

Currently i have 1 line to type replies/posts out on. The text box is halved with a scroll bar in the first where you can type so you have to move down to see what you are typing and the second box has a “Path: p” heading but is otherwise empty. It’s nigh on impossible to quote anyone and a nightmare to just post. Anyone got any ideas what happened or how to fix it?

Sorry, but don’t know what to suggest if you’ve done all the usual stuff (close and re-open browser, log in/out, etc.)? I don’t seem to be having the same problem. I’ll let you know if for whatever reason I can think of something else to try. Is this a recent problem?

Was like this this morning. I’ve opened and closed the browser and still it remains. None of the buttons in the menu line fix it either.
Appears to be an issue with Chrome as its fine in Firefox. Weird.

It looks like the gif-avatars aren’t working. Suddenly those of us with gifs have the blank face instead.
*grumble* Guess I’ll go back to a static one until it’s fixed.

As I write it is taking 20-30 seconds per page, which is getting borderline unusable.
[EDIT] Back down to 5-10 secs now which is bearable.

Ok, on both Google Chrome and Firefox the site is acting like its running on empty fumes. Taking an age to load pages, post replies etc and lost the ability to quote – my reply in Beatles news has been saying “connecting” for about 5 minutes with the green circle going around and around but never getting anywhere – wait it’s finished and my reply has vanished. Well that was a fun time.
It isn’t my internet connection as i can stream bbc tv without any problems.
Ok this is just plain bonkers. The site is now trying to get going as is jolting along trying to get some momentum going. One minute there is life, the next its back to green circles rotating. However the double boxes in Google Chrome have disappeared which is cool.

Not saying it’s your fault, but it seems strange to me that not everyone is experiencing these problems. All I’ve found is that the site is a little slower than usual

I’m not sure what’s meant by “double boxes”?
If anyone who is suffering the problem is able to put up a screenshot, it would be useful.

How do you put up a screenshot?
To try and describe: For me the text box where i type the posts has been halved, between the two boxes there is a grey bar that has “Path: p” written on the left hand side. No fiddling with the icons on the text menu row remove the lower box which cannot be written in.
In the top box there is 1 1/4 lines visible to post in, you have scroll arrows on the right hand side of the box as a way of moving up and down. It is a right friggin’ pain.

trcanberra, was it you who put up the screenshot for Joe when the home page was halving? Something in my head says it was, though I can’t find it. How did you do it?

No double boxes yet. Knock on wood.
Different question:
How do I put a picture in a PM without all that URL stuff showing up? I paste them in there just like I do out on the forum and the URL doesn’t show up on the forum.

I just posted some screen shots. I use a mac, so I did the “command-shift-3” to get it on the desktop. Then I just posted it as a private picture on my tumblr and copied the image address. But I know you hate Tumblr and Facebook and all that so do you use another account that you can upload photos?

At least the gif thing seems to have worked itself out.
MMM, are you Mac or PC? I can help you if it’s PC.
Ahhh Girl, do you know HTML at all? I’ve gotten mixed results trying to copy and paste photos so I find it easier to click on the HTML icon above and type in the [img src=”(URL” /] code.
