Offline Am I the only one who tried to look at the “Name the Beatles song that goes with this picture” thread, and gotten only a “Access denied – you do not have permission to view this page” message?
This is peculiar, since I posted to it just a couple of days ago…although I was on a different computer, if that makes a difference. Weird…

Offline @Von Bontee, I got to it just fine. Try closing your browser and opening it again. If that doesn’t work, you might need to go to the history thing on your browser and clear the last hour or day.

Offline Thanks for the info. I’ll probably not bother with that history-clearing (which I don’t know how to do anyways), since I’m guessing it’s just one of the quirks of this particular computer’s settings – similar to how I can’t use the toolbar, or the “@”, or quote posts properly.
I guess if the mods had a secret conspiracy to lock me out of that thread, you’d let me know; you’ve always been so helpful!

Offline Not really, but that’s not your fault! I’ve no idea what causes it. Simple Press are helpful up to a point – if they can’t replicate something they assume it’s a server/hosting issue or something else to do with the way the site is set up (eg WordPress plugins I’m running). Also, if the same thing happened each time it’d be easier to troubleshoot, but it’s unpredictable. That’s why I tend to just pretend it’s not happening. Sorry, I wish I could help more.

Cheers and no worries – I managed some web sites in a previous job so I know how touchy they can be. I’ll stop flooding this thread when it happens and just wait for it to decide to behave again. Luckily it is okay about 90% of the time I am here.

Offline Just piping up to say I think I’ve just experienced it. I think it’s a caching bug, and quite possibly as much chrome’s fault as Simple Press. I was all logged in and went to a thread I subscribed to and was suddenly unlogged-in for that thread alone. Reload of the thread and it’s fixed. Chrome can be damn lazy with its pre-render which doesn’t always update the markup.

I don’t use chrome on my phone. I agree about the catching bug thing. Maybe it is just with the mobile site and certain phones.

Offline It could be something as simple as chrome caching a cookie designed to refresh counters between reloads because the code relies on the header expiry instead. It’s gotten very weird and complicated these days.
