Sometimes people put odd bits of code into forum posts, which means the page doesn’t load fully or at all. It’s very difficult to fix – mod tools aren’t normally available until everything loads. I think last time I managed to do it using a browser that wasn’t throwing the errors, but I can’t really remember. It’s affected a few old threads.
I don’t think the rogue code is intentional, probably a copy/paste from somewhere else that throws everything off. If I could check the source code of the messages I’d have a better idea of what causes it and could put a block in place.
It’s interesting that the Way Back Machine loads the page, but has the old design. That suggests there’s a conflict since the last redesign. On the currently page 127 all the content is in the source code, it’s just not rendering correctly. Interestingly, on Chrome it loads briefly then turns blank.
Edit: it looks like it’s the old YouTube embed code. We don’t need it nowadays because embedding happens automatically. I think those older bits of code might cause problems when there are multiple ones on the same page. Will investigate further.
Edit 2: Found the problem. It’s a weird one. beatlez-luver16 made the first post in that thread, but for some reason everything subsequent on that page is nested within the first comment. Looks like an unclosed <div> tag. The only way to fix it is to delete that first post, but I’m not sure I can while the page is going blank. Anyway, that’s why you see a lot of broken images on the Way Back Machine version – they’re quotation marks because the forum thinks the first post is quoting everything that came after.

I never thought I’d say this, but IE came to the rescue. Because it tends to render pages in a slightly unpredictable way, it loaded the page despite the dodgy code. I had to delete a couple of posts but the page should now load in all browsers.
Please let me know if you come across this error anywhere else.

When I used IE, I got that weird smile. I wonder why the page loaded for you and not for me. I remembered that you had used IE a few months ago to discover that a video was causing a page to not load so that’s why I tried IE. (I just looked it up … it was back in August. It was a video by Kedame on page 1 of the McCartney bootlegs thread.) You must have held your mouth just right when you tried it in IE. Is “holding your mouth just right” a common expression in other countries? Never thought about that before.

It is a phrase that you use to try to explain the unexplainable like when you’ve tried to do something and couldn’t get it done, but then you try it again and it works. You swear you haven’t done anything differently than you did on all the tries before. You can also use it, like I did, to say someone else got something to work doing the same thing you did but it wouldn’t work for you.

Never heard “holding your mouth just right” here in Scotland @Ahhh Girl. Is that the same as holding your breath?
I’ve never heard it either.

To further derail, those of you who have heard my voice, do you think I have a Southern accent?
@Expert Textpert @parlance @HeyTrud @Zig
@Ron Nasty says my voice is higher pitched than he thought it would be.

^^ You do, but for some reason when you post, I keep hearing in my head something closer to Julie Andrews. It’s the sense of orderliness, I think.

Does anyone else have a giant picture of Charles Manson at the top of their screen? Also, a mono cover of With the Beatles, but the murder face grabbed my attention first.

If Charles Manson appears to you in a vision it’s probably time to switch off the computer and get some fresh air.
Srsly though, I’ve no idea. Next time (if there is one) can you take a screengrab?

I have that sometimes, well not Charles Manson but often other pictures than the logo of the BB appear at the top of my screen. I only have this on I-Pad, though.
Sometimes it goes away when I refresh the page but normally it only goes away after some time.

This is an example of a Linda picture replacing the BB logo and a With The Beatles album replacing the pictures of the Beatles with Christmas hats.
