Thanks, @Ahhh Girl. Glad it’s not a lost thread, and just something weird about that automatic link. Let’s hope it’s a one-off and doesn’t go to all links like that, otherwise @Joe will have something more to work out.

I had a long reply written out and then the answer came to me, i think. The move notification would have been sent automatically at the time of the merge(s), keeping the old link. Later on Joe altered the URL to correlate with the new thread title resulting in the link in the notification(s) leading to a dead-end.
If correct the only answer would be to leave changing the URL for a couple of days so folk have a chance to log-in and see where their posts have been moved to.

Thanks for that, @meanmistermustard. Makes perfect sense. I looked at the URLs and they are different.

Great news. Sorry guys for this, no idea what the problem is but its affected a few folk on here recently. Any time @Joe has began to look into it its fixed itself which is frustrating for everyone. Some random bug that keeps fiddling with the wires. Hopefully the problem will reveal itself, did you get anywhere closer to identifying the issue Joe?

Hi. Good to see you here again.
It seems to be a bug with the forum homepage only. You can ignore it and click on a thread to start posting, replying etc, and once you’re in a thread you shouldn’t see the message unless you return to the homepage. Does anyone get that message on other pages?
I don’t know what causes it, but it is frustrating. It’s on my to-do list to look into.
This isn’t related to the “Welcome back X-USER, please log in” message which you might see if you haven’t been here for a few days – I don’t know how long the cookie that keeps a user logged in lasts for, but eventually it expires and you have to sign in again.

I am using the HTML editor. The preview used to show me what my post would look like. Over the past two days or so (time is running together on me), I’ve been getting previews that look like this. It is happening on my PC and my phone.
Also using HTML on IE9 – when posting a pic, I get [Image can not be found]. I discovered this is inaccurate when I clicked “Submit Reply” instead of “Cancel” by mistake and the image I posted was there. That’s why, the other day, I thought I kept finding images that were not formatted to the Forum’s liking.

@LongHairedLady, @trcanberra I’m glad it’s fixed. I can’t claim any credit, and it might happen again. In my experience it tends to come and go.
@Ahhh Girl, @Zig I don’t normally use the HTML editor and I’m not sure how to troubleshoot it, but I’ll take a look. Zig, is the image problem a new one or has it always given the not found message?

For two days the forum wouldn’t let me log in on my phone. Yesterday I thought I was clever and went directly to the PM URL, as it gives you a login link when you go there logged out. The link was there, but when I clicked it nothing happened.
The Actions button just came back!

Excellent sleuthing, @Ahhh Girl.
I can edit anyone’s signatures, so I’ve changed TheTaxmansGirl and DigAPony’s.
I assume it’s a bug which makes smileys appear at 400x300px. The original hearts are 35x35px. I’ll have a look in the forum settings to see if it’s forcing the larger size somehow, but it might be best to hold off using smileys in autosigs.
I found another person who has a smiley in an autosig.

Why does that friendly, sweet heart look so menacing at that size?

@Starr Shine?, muso seems right to me.
Oxford Dictionaries gives this definition:
A musician, especially one overly concerned with technique.
While urbandictionary.com offers this definition:
A muso is a person who is obsessed with music.
Their record collection will contain music and artists nobody else has heard of, and if they believe that an artist is becoming popular they will deny they ever listened to them and quickly dispose of any evidence.
If they come around to your house they will make a beeline for your music collection and then criticise everything in it just to make sure you know they are cool.
As a sideline they will take up the acoustic guitar and then force you to listen to their “revolutionary” take on what music could be like. It will undoubtedly be dreadful and unlistenable.

Is this the thread to post this?
Some people have been slightly… ehem… rude, in the forum recently (very few, fortunately)
“Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)

@Oudis, assuming you mean there have been some comments of an “adult nature”, @Joe recently commented on this here. The majority of “adult” comment on the forum is, in my opinion, intended to be jokey. Should you feel a comment oversteps the mark, the report button should be used to allow Joe to consider it.
If, instead, you mean that some posters have been rude or offensive in their responses to others on the forum, these should always be reported, and often the quickest way to do this is to PM the mods.
I hope this helps.
