If you see odd things happening with the site design, it’s just me playing around. I’m just about ready to relaunch, but some things don’t carry over easily from my test site.

This mobile site is hard to navigate. I like the old one better. Is desktop different too?

yep and I like the old desktop version better since right now it looks a bit cluttered right now.

@JoeIs it a complete ‘out with the old, in with the new’ redesign of the site or a more measured redesign?
It should all be finished now, apart from a random banner thing I can’t get to work (the frames should change – those who have been around for a while will remember them from a previous version).
It’s a completely recoded theme, but the design principles and layout are largely the same. I’ve tried to cut down on clutter. I know people will probably hate it to begin with, but please give it a go. I’ve been working on it for a couple of weeks now and I prefer it to the old one.
The main benefit, though, is this one shouldn’t give me so much grief with odd bits of script and code that refused to work. It should be a bit more efficient, and fewer weird things should go awry, as it’s coded far better than the old theme. @Zig, hopefully this will allow you to use the forum with IE without changing the editor in your profile.

I like it. Its very white (John and Yoko, White Album ) and very clean (A Hard Days Night).
Does this fix the PM issue?

I hope so. If it was a code thing then yes, it should do, but I can’t guarantee it. It might be a hosting thing. Basically I need to do a lot of trial-and-error testing to get to the bottom of some of the problems I’ve been having on the site.
Edit: I know there are a few things I need to change. Links in forum posts aren’t blue, making it hard to tell what’s a link and what’s plain text. I’ll take a closer look tomorrow and see what I can do.

I like the old design better, but I checked desktop and it looks better there although a bit cluttered. I liked having the posts fullscreen instead of grouped to the left, but ill just have to get used to it.
I’m just curious if you could keep te new desktop, but save the old mobile, this one is very odd to use on mobile.

The layout shouldn’t be hugely different. The mobile version is largely the same, just with different colours. The functionality and layout shouldn’t have changed much.
What do you mean by having the posts fullscreen instead of grouped to the left? Which browser/device are you using for mobile?
The picture frames at the top of the page should now change randomly with every page load (although it may get cached by web browsers). Not sure why I couldn’t get it working before.

@Joe It’s good now. Briefly there was a sidebar and it grouped posts to the left on desktop and created a large space at the top of the mobile site, but all is good now, except for the link thing. I really like the pictures changing at the top.

@Joe
Links are not displaying differently to other text so its difficult to know which text acts as a link and which text does not. Is there anything that can be done to distinguish between the two?

Honestly, I actually really like the new design. I guess if I had to nitpick, I’d say it feels a little… cold. Not as homely. I guess it just seems a bit sterile without the green banner at the top; however, I love the banner changing whenever I refresh.
