Something I’ve noticed happening is that when I click on the button that appears next to the topics that have unread posts – the one that’s supposed to take you to the oldest un-read – it takes me back several days, so I have to go forward to find where there’s a post that I haven’t seen yet.Is this happening to anyone else?
Yeah, I’ve always noticed that. I figured it was a “feature.” ;->

^^ I don’t get that, but the X is missing to close the window. I guess it’s one of the buttons missing right, along with the ones for the Advanced Search and the one to stay logged in.

Above the Add topic and Add reply buttons on the right hand side of the top of this thread (across from the home, fab forum etc tabs) there is text which reads so many topics with unread posts, click on the first of the three icons beside it and it brings up a box that has a list of the topics you haven’t yet read. If I scroll down to the bottom of the list it automatically goes back to the top resulting in not being able to open whatever thread it is that is clicked on.
I hope that’s clear, I have no idea how else to explain.

^^ I was referring to the same pop-up box that’s now missing the X. I guess being home sick I haven’t let the topics grow long enough to have to scroll so I haven’t noticed that particular issue yet.

Yeah, that was happening to me yesterday.
Edit: It’s still happening. It lets me scroll to the bottom of the list, but when I try to click on a topic it just brings me back to the top.

Thanks. Sorry, every time there’s an update I have to go into the server to edit a file. It’s a PITA and I forgot to do it one time.

Is this a recent error? I don’t use that feature, so I wasn’t aware of a problem until now.
I can see it’s not working, but I’m not sure how to correct it. I’ll probably have to submit a bug report (they’re mounting up now – I’ve been off for a week and it looks like the most recent forum update has made a lot of things worse).

Thanks, Joe, the buttons are back. Something else weird just popped up in the RSS notifier (don’t know the right name). But now instead of listing specific topics that have been updated, you just get a long list of “Fab Forum | Beatles Bible.”

Its been around for about a week I think but not sure of the exact timeframe.

That makes sense MMM. It’s most likely a bug in the latest Simple Press update, to go with the mods’ inability to move forum threads. Grr.
Parlance, the RSS thing is a new one on me. Again, I’ve never used that feature before. So frustrating. I’m investigating alternatives to Simple Press because these bugs are becoming a weekly frustration I could do without. Migration might be tricky, and the alternative (probably bbpress) might not look as nice, but on the plus side it’s open source and has a better developer community, and it’s made by the people behind WordPress so should integrate well. Bear with me for now – I need to research things a bit more and test it properly before making a switch.

I can’t get logged off. I’ve used the gray log out button and the log out that is under “Howdy, cbatcu” menu. I’ve even shut down my browser (Firefox) and restarted my computer. Any thoughts on how I can fix this? Is anyone else having this happen?
Sing it with me … “very strange”.

Not sure what to suggest. I’m also using Firefox, and have just logged in and out both ways, so the problem doesn’t appear site-wide. It may be a temporary fault with your network. I’d just try again later.

Is anyone else lost the ability to copy and paste on this forum? I can copy from an external site to here but not something on this site, say for instance a thread heading, to a different thread. Absolutely nothing appears.

I cant even copy and paste your post Parlance. Maybe it’s IE, i’ll jump over to firefox and see if I can there.
Ok, went to Firefox and copy and pasting works. Weird. At least there is an answer: IE can be a right pain in the arse.
