Hi @Joe, i get this jetpack notification everytime i try to access from my computer:
I tried deleting cookies, etc… But no luck. Can you just add me to any kind of “it’s ok, let him in” list in that plugin or something?

Hi. I’m really sorry about that. If you’re on a shared IP it’s possible that someone else has been doing naughty stuff and it got red-flagged. For a while Wikipedia blocked my IP address for editing because of a rogue editor, but my IP was shared with thousands of other users across the UK.

Offline My signature which I set up, every time I post something, is pushed up into the text of my comment. I’ve tried inserting a couple of carriage returns after my comment, but that doesn’t change the problem. The problem is not always exactly the same; sometimes it’s worse — example, see my recent comment on the “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)” thread, Page 3, December 22 (the last comment there, as of now), and you can see how scrunched up it looks.
How can I fix this?
The signature I set up is a quote (“Where the Humuhumu, Nukunuku a puaa goes swimming by…“) + a pic of fish below it.

Offline Hi @Doctor Doctor My Real Name Is Proctor , I think the issue is that the picture is too large – signatures can only support about 4 lines maximum of stuff before it messes the formatting, and the picture itself is taking up most of that room. If you can downsize your image, that should fix the problem?

I’m not sure why this happens, but I think the forum software (which is largely out of my hands) doesn’t really play nicely with images as signatures. It might be better to just have some text. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
Incidentally, my GP is actually called Dr Proctor.

Offline I’ve noticed a weird effect where the first (and sometimes second) posts from a new user don’t show up in the “unread posts” section, so I only see them when someone responds. Am I alone in relying on “unread posts”? I can’t figure out how other people are seeing the posts to respond to them

Offline I rely on the ‘Unread posts’ feature as well and every time someone makes a new post, it shows up as normal on my laptop.

Offline First thing I do when I log in is click on the “mark all topics as read” button and then refresh. This brings up all new posts in the correct order.

Are you able to figure out the issues with the YouTube links which do not automatically embed when posts are submitted? Also, when sorted, will all the links posted automatically show as embedded or would we have to go back and reup the links?

@meanmistermustard Thanks – this is fixed now. People were quoting spoilers and somehow the posts became corrupted. I deleted the quoted text so all should be OK now.
I’m looking into the YouTube issues now. When it’s fixed they should display correctly without anything else needed, but it might take me a bit of time to get there.
This doesn’t really help here, but YouTube links work on the main part of the site, it’s just the forum that isn’t embedding them. I’m not sure why the forum is behaving differently. Does anyone know when they stopped embedding automatically?

Offline @meanmistermustard It seems to be fixed now. I was running a plugin to lazy load the videos (it loaded an image instead of the full video, to avoid slowing people’s browsers down). That seemed to be conflicting with something else, I’m not sure what, but disabling the plugin brought back the embedded videos. I’ll see if there’s an alternative way to lazy load them.
