Heh – nothing much working the way it should – but at least it is still not working quickly :)

Surely you want it working quickly. Why would you want it slow? Are you just used to that and a creature of old habits.

Considering the thought Joe had one night of removing the forum maybe we should all just say the place is fine for a while and then when he is on top of the world with birds singing everywhere he goes we hit him with a list 45 faults? Maybe if we all save up and put together a savings fund we can bribe him in keeping it up. Going 34 hours, or whatever it was, without access was not a nice experience. As sad as it may sound i really like it here and the net sucks without getting on. blue-meanie

Ha – I worded that poorly.  I meant that it was getting things wrong – but getting them wrong quickly.

(1) Doesn’t sound sad at all to my ears. Not sad at all.

(2) Thank goodness. We all need you to keep us in stitches.

(3) True.

If the HMS BB (or, since the server is in Chicago, it can also fly the American flag and go by USS BB) were to sink one night off the coast of Joe’s troubled soul, we would all be floundering out in the water calling out to try to find each other. Hopefully we would all get reunited on a yellow submarine or in an octupus’s garden, but it just wouldn’t be the same. We love our mother ship despite the holes that have to be patched and its occasional disappearance into the Bermuda Triangle.

Send positive vibes to the captain of our ship, mates. Keep the ship afloat.

I tried to get to the Discovered Any New Music? thread, but my browser said “No Data Received” and when I reloaded the screen was blank.

Boy, do I post on this thread a lot. I think it may be my computer.

Logged in or out, I am generally needing to go to a page and then refresh to get the current version. And that includes the forum index.

Mainly not logged in, but refresh index page, and it may list three posts I haven’t seen – say 21 minutes ago, 11 minutes ago, and 11 seconds ago. I go for the 21 minutes ago. It isn’t there. I reload the page. It appears.

I need to go back to the index. I don’t just go back because that takes me back to the last version of that page I viewed. I press the “fab forum” link thinking it will take me to the latest version of the page. But, no, it takes me to the last version of it I viewed.

I press refresh and it updates the timings from when I went into thread. Maybe some new posts added depending on activity. Might be 20 minutes, and I might decide to look at that post that was 11 seconds ago, but is now 20 minutes ago.

Go into the thread, and it’s not there. Refresh the page, and it appears.

It is not faster if you have to load every page twice to get the latest version of it!

Sorry everyone, that’s far from ideal. I disabled the caching plugin as I don’t have time to troubleshoot this properly right now. How is it now?

Been running around as I do do, and it’s been coming up with the latest version of the page without any need to refresh, and I’m not noticing any speed issues on page loading at this time.

Sorry to burst mmm’s bubble, but all you need to do is press the “donate” button at the bottom of the page (Can Buy Me Love), or use the Amazon link from here every time you want to buy there – which I believe gives Joe a small referral fee on each purchase.

I’m posting this for a fellow Beatles Bibler who has happening when trying to post a PM: “it keeps bringing up a message asking if I would like to “retry”, to which I reply “yes”, but it does not show any of my messages going thru.” Has anyone encountered this problem before? Do you have any fixes to share?

That’s a new one on me. I’ve Googled the problem and it looks like (geek explanation coming up) there’s a php command in line 59 of the sp-api-primitives.php file (putting this here for my own reference). Contents of line 59: echo esc_attr(__($text, ‘sp’));

I’ve no idea how to debug that. Php isn’t something I really understand, and I don’t want to start chopping out bits of code if I can help it. Did you see the error just once? If so I’ll pretend it didn’t happen, stick my fingers in my ears and go “La, la, la…”

Yip, just the once. Clicked on “submit reply” and the aforementioned message appeared.

No worries about ignoring it, Can’t Get You Into My Head is a good song by the way, catchy as hell. Nothing wrong with a bit of Kylie.

Our mystery poster can post to the forum and to some PMs. Just that one PM thread is acting up. Anyhoo, carry on.

It would appear weird things happening with the forum. Some having difficulties with accessing the site, some having difficulties posting.

I can post to some threads, but I cannot respond to Expert Textpert in this thread:

https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..spPostForm

using my computer. I’ve tried Chrome, FF, and IE.

I can reply to that thread on my Android phone. Any suggestions for how to get that thread working again on my computer?

EDIT: In case it helps, here’s what I see when I try to post to that thread:
