This forum software allows me to assign a rank to a person depending on how many posts they've made. It's just a bit of fun and doesn't give any extra rights, but I could do with some suggestions.
At the moment fewer than five posts is A Beginning, then it's I Am The Walrus , and after a person makes 500 posts they become The Fool On The Hill – that's as far as I got. In honesty when I set it up I put down the first things that came into my head, but I could do with some suggestions for other rankings.
Topping The Bill should probably be over 1,000 posts, for example – I don't think there's a need to go any further than that, but I could do with some Beatles-inspired markers for other intervals. Maybe chocolate names from Savoy Truffle would do for the lot.
Anyone got any ideas? I can also assign images to ranks if that's any help. Or is this a crap idea that's worth ditching? It's only a minor thing, I know.

No, I definetly like the chocolate idea, how I'd love to be Coffee Dessert!
Maybe use the Abbey Road medley as ranks? Like starting from You Never Give Me Your Money / Sun King , whichever you judge to be the first of the medley, all the way to She Came In Through The Bathroom Window ?
Perhaps it's a little too long, haha.
My brains a little inactive at the moment, but I'll be sure to brainstorm some more.

I say AHDN quotes. “I'm a mocker”, “No, actually, we're just good friends.”, “a smokescreen of bourgeois cliches”, “The law of averages is against it.”, “See, *sly* villains.”, “My name's Betty.”, etc.

OK, how about this?
- St Peter's Church
- Casbah Coffee Club
- The Jacaranda
- The Indra
- The Kaiserkeller
- The Top Ten Club
- The Star-Club
- The Cavern Club
- Decca
- Abbey Road
- The London Palladium
- Royal Command Performance
- Paris Olympia
- The Ed Sullivan Show
- Carnegie Hall
- Hollywood Bowl
- Shea Stadium
- Candlestick Park
- Rishikesh
- Apple rooftop
I was thinking at 10-post intervals, so to get to the Apple rooftop you need 200 posts. Some of the venues/concerts are better known than others, but all were important in The Beatles' story. Also, it's only broadly chronological – they played as the Quarry Men in the Cavern, but I wanted to leave it till later on so people here could work their way towards it.
I'm not going to try and put in everything. I thought about places like the Albert Hall and the tours in Europe, the far east etc, but I don't think we need to worry about it. But have I missed anything really important?

Great idea — though I think 'Abbey Road ' could be confusing to some as it's also an album title and could make you think you're progressing through albums… In terms of their career, in some ways it didn't really get any better than being at Abbey Road , so on second thought I am not sure it works to give people 'worse' rankings after they've gone through Abbey Road …. And who would want to be stuck at #18? ….
It's interesting – but maybe the idea of a hierarchichal thing with regard to posts doesn't really work with the Beatles, since, you know, there's nothing you can do that can't be done…
Then again, the idea of moving chronologically through the Beatles' career as you post more and more, while somewhat appealing, also has its drawbacks, as you see the end looming…
my two cents…
"We were just a band, who made it very very big, that's all."
I'll change Abbey Road to EMI Studios, as that's what The Beatles always knew it as. The studio changed its name in 1970 – you can guess why

Perhaps you could start a thread laying out some ground rules for the forum? I wouldn't like to see people make pointless posts just to up their post count.
Edit: Not that anyone does that here, but when traffic picks up? It's happened before.

Skye – I will set some forum rules soon. At the moment the basic rules are no spam, be polite and don't post rubbish. Luckily it's quite a small community here at the moment and is easy to manage, but I expect we'll get more people coming here over time. The last thing I want is for the quality to end up like YouTube or certain blogs, though fortunately so far everyone's been great.
I don't think people will keep posting just to raise their profile – there's no real gain in doing so. I can remove posts if they're obviously unnecessary, although generally I prefer not to be a censor.
mjb – I kept A Beginning for people who have made fewer than five posts, as I figured some people make a post then never come back (or sign up and don't even post here). The Jac is between 25 and 35 now. Rishikesh is up to 195 posts, and from then on it stays on the Apple rooftop.
For some reason as an admin I don't get to be part of this. That's a shame
Also, for the record, I can't add an apostrophe to St Peter's Church.

Hi. First of all, apologies. I don't think this'll be popular with some people.
I tweaked the settings for the levels people can get to the more they contribute to the forum. In short, this forum is a lot more popular than it was when I first set up the feature, and the Apple rooftop is getting a little crowded these days.
Sorry if your ranking has dropped. If you still want to get to the rooftop, just keep posting till you pass 1,000 posts (not that I'm encouraging people to leave junk messages just to raise their status – this is just a bit of fun).
A Beginning – up to 10 posts
St Peters Church – up to 15
Casbah Coffee Club – 25
The Jacaranda – 35
The Indra – 45
The Kaiserkeller – 55
The Top Ten Club – 65
The Star-Club – 75
The Cavern Club – 85
Decca – 95
Abbey Road – 105
London Palladium – 115
Royal Command Performance – 125
Paris Olympia – 150
Ed Sullivan Show – 200
Carnegie Hall – 300
Hollywood Bowl – 400
Shea Stadium – 500
Candlestick Park – 750
Rishikesh – 1,000

Just now leaning the change was made, which is ultimately a relief – so my memory's NOT failing me! (At least not fully.) I was SURE I'd made it to the rooftop, only to find myself back at Candlestick Park, wtf? (And a double wtf at that, since I apparently should be even further back, at Shea Stadium.) But whatever: I made it there once (twice?), I'll get there again! (And for the record, I do have over 1000 posts, of course…)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Are you able to change your display so you don’t display as an admin?

It’s kind of moot, because I’d be on the rooftop anyway.
This is a very old thread.

Users are posting on average more than they did back then. Now their are more than two dozen users on Apple Roof top and the forum is more popular than it was when you first changed the ranking system. With all the active members posting content, it is a lot easier for new members to get to the roof top.
I think the rank system should be expanded again.

If you’ll notice, @Joe ‘s ranking system roughly mirrors Beatley locations/events chronologically. Not much positive happened after “Apple rooftop”. I could see a ranking labeled “Abbey Road Crossing”, but I’m not getting up out of my rooftop hammock just to fight traffic – not much of an upgrade if you ask me.
*reading from the Book of Joe*
A ranking of “Breakup” is right out.
