I get where you are coming from, Ad40. IIRC, you mostly use your phone to post here and a page with multiple vids loads slower than a snail with gout.
I don’t know if Joe would want to disable the auto embed feature because some people do like to have them prominently displayed. What we can do is politely ask everyone to post vids as a link using text to announce it’s content. I’ve already started doing that for the most part out of respect for you since you mentioned it a while back.

I was thinking about the problems html editor users (which seems to be an increasing number) have when trying mention those of us who have changed their usernames. I wonder whether it wouldn’t be an idea to create a locked and pinned thread that is a bit like a phone book. Just the one post in it, listing current active posters alphabetically who have changed their names followed by their @ name. It is not as if any are secret as they all appear automatically for those of us who do not use html. Mods could update it as necessary. Just a thought I had.

If that is the true problem it is not a bad idea, as long as the member does not object to our listing their old user name or any other identifiers.
However, when I use HTML (I have to at work due to using IE) the @ function does not work at all. No matter how I’ve tried, I can’t @ anyone any time any way. That may be an HTML problem specific to IE.

I’ve been having problems with the ‘@’ function as its incredibly temperamental, at times i’m having to do it a good handful of times to get the list to appear and even then it doesn’t always stay on screen long enough to be able to use it.

It is definitely a problem for some as they don’t get the drop-down list. I’ve even had @Ahhh Girl emailing asking me to check an @ name for her as she couldn’t remember it. And I don’t think it should be a problem for anyone as those original names automatically appear for those of us who don’t use html.

@Zig In HTML it should show up after you post, but you just type it in like its a work with an @ in front of it.
@Ron Nasty Wonderful idea! I love the HTML editor and that’s the only drawback for me.

I use whichever one (regular or forum) smiley hits me as right at that moment. I don’t really have a rhyme or reason why, I just go with what my brain picks out.
@Joe, for the UK albums https://www.beatlesbible.com/albums/, if you ever get the time and/or inkling to, it would be nice to see “Side 1” and “Side 2” added to the track listings.

One option is to prevent people from changing their usernames. Would that be unpopular?
