I was looking here and I think one thing that would help more people see the adds is bringing back all together now and making games not Beatles required
By unlocking All Together Now the site would have more people making more posts and generating content which plays well for Google searches. Also more people will be inclined to stick around when there is a general place to talk and those are the people more likely to donate.
Games are some of the most posted in sections of forums. Games will keep users active and playing which will get more eyes on the adds and drive up revenue which down the line might me you wouldn’t have to use as many banner ads
I think these two are fairly easy options @Joe that could help the site make more money and help alleviate the ad problems you were having.
The main issue with that is it becomes less of a Beatles forum and more of a Beatles+ one, something that moves away from what the site is meant to be.
I personally would also be against making the forum more games orientated as we want conversations and discussions on the Beatles not playing random games that have no relevance to a a Beatles forum. Games do keep the the forum moving admittedly.

Problem with that is not enough people will go for this and would require far more work for Joe to make then increasing overall traffic to where he could make more money for more options.
Like one option in that vein would be an honor system donation where you donate x amount each month with a link to your account. Then once Joe sees it, he lets you know that you can go and get add block guilt free cause you are donating to the site.

Another option is if anyone wants to they could give Joe however much a month (whatever they think is decent, however he decides to receive it), run adblocker and everyone gets on with their lives.

Offline When someone “quotes” or “Likes” your post or answer, you should get a notification. This is the only site that I know of that doesn’t alert you.

Offline Swap the Quote and Report buttons. I keep almost pressing Report instead of Quote, and I don’t want to not notice that I clicked the wrong thing and accidentally report a post.

Offline You don’t need to worry about accidentally reporting a post, @Let It Bleed (and welcome to the forum); if you do accidently hit the report button, it’ll just take you to a form to fill in with your reasons for reporting the post, with you needing to submit the report at the end. You can’t report a post with a single click.
Hope that helps you worry less about the report button.

Yeah, but I’m worried that I’ll put my post into the reasons and submit it. Hopefully it would be marked as invalid if that was the case, but it would still be embarrassing.

Offline No one reads reports. If you do need to report a post. Just pm a mod about it rather than report.

Offline Reports do get read by Joe, @Starr Shine?, who is the person they go to. Reporting a post is useful if you want to draw Joe’s attention to it for any reason.
But don’t worry about doing it accidentally, @Let It Bleed. You can’t click through the steps needed to report a post without knowing you’re doing it.

No specific one, just in general. For example if I feel like re-reading a riddle of mine in the massive ‘guess the picture’ topic I have basically no chance of ever finding it. Same if I see ‘oh, I once posted to this topic, I don’t remember’. In every other forum I know you can to a users profile and list all the posts chronologically.
