Yeah, I realise a bit of warning wouldn’t have gone amiss in this instance. The timing was mine. We’ll work on a better plan if there are major changes in future.

I can’t help commenting on the civilized and sensible quality of the discussions here. Reasonable people can have principled disagreements, and the ability to express them in non-contentious ways is the mark of a quality, high-level environment. I don’t have a position on these issues at all, but I admire the eloquence and the temporizing tone of the posters, especially @Ron Nasty and @Zig. I don’t know who gets the credit for creating such a nurturing community, probably @Joe, but the regular posters and mods deserve a lot of thanks as well.

Zig, parlance, Beatlebug, Joe, Starr Shine?, IveJustSeenAFaceoI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

@Zig “do we really need a non-Beatles themed game to learn about and appreciate each other?“
Well, I needed it because it was fun, apparently a lot of other folks thought so too. And who was it negatively affecting by it being there, apart from people who don’t like such games getting a bee under their bonnet? This is the part I just don’t get, still.
I do get that it’s not my decision. Like I said in in another thread, I guess we hurt someone’s field.

Thanks for your input, @trcanberra .
When you take my question out of context, your point is well taken. At the same time, my point was, there are myriad ways for us to share Squab Milanese recipes, good news and bad news about ourselves, our friends, families, inlaws and outlaws. Taking away one or two of those conversations or games won’t change any of that. It is still a fun place to hang out. What could possibly be brought up in a non-Beatles game that couldn’t be brought up in one of those other threads that I mentioned? Is it less fun to list a Non-English Speaking Writer of Swiss Short Stories Based on Lituanian Folk Tales in the “Derail” thread than it is to list it in the Bakers Dozen game? Christ, there were times we had to Google the topic just to be able to participate – tell me I’m wrong – in order to move on to the next category. That’s not fun, that’s cheating. That is only one example – you get my point.
I get it – it is in most people’s nature to resist or dislike change. I’m no different, no question. But if you really stop and ask yourself what changed…you’d be hard pressed to think of anything Earth shattering. In addition, we have already agreed to give the Forum a heads up, when warranted, if considering any thread or topic closures. Just keep in mind that Joe had/has a vision for both the entire site and the Forum that lays within this site. If his vision is in anyway going sideways, he has the right to make any changes he deems prudent. As a Mod, I have been entrusted to help maintain that vision. As a fellow Forumpudlian, I promise to have as much fun with you and everyone else as is humanly possible.
Please, by all means continue to have fun. If this place wasn’t fun, I wouldn’t be a part of it.
Nobody hurt anyone’s field, mister.

I think it would be good if we had some more events or Beatles related contests to draw people in.

I think it would be nice if, in the All Together Now section, we had the non-Beatles music threads in their own sub-forum. I saw this at another Beatles forum I was nosing round (just spying on the competition, y’know).
Just a suggestion……..

Google’s fault!
For what it’s worth, that forum was totally unhelpful. I eventually figured it out myself.

I don’t use reaction gifs.
Anyway if I could have a forum improvement, I would have it so when you look at a thread, there is a button you can use to look at each users posts in isolation so that threads can be better searched for a certain persons post.
It probably isn’t the most practical of forum suggestions but it gets the thread back on topic (maybe).
