I ask my title question because I’ve noticed on the main page of Fab Forum down near the bottom where it says “Unread and recently updated topics” I see new posts by other people long before I see any from me. And sometimes I don’t EVER see the ones that I newly posted show up down there, and sometimes I do. For example a member named Neely posted two or three new comments and they all showed up down there but my a new comments that I posted hours before he posted his never showed up down there. It seems like that function should work like a machine, like clockwork with no random variations — like every time someone posts something new it should go up on that list at exactly whenever it’s set to go up — 10 minutes later, 30 minutes later, an hour later, whatever.
Okay, rant over.

The unread and recently updated will only ever show you other peoples posts, not your own. Its job is to show recent activity you might not have seen, and it doesn’t think you need pointing toward posts you have written yourself. If logged in, you will see the most recent posts by others, and if logged out you’ll see all the most recent posts including your own.
Your most recent posts show up for me and others because we need to know, they don’t show for you because you know what you’ve posted. This post will appear in your unread and recently updated, but not mine. It’s automatic and individual, so excludes your own posts.
EDIT:
Logged out I get…
…while logged in I get…

Is there an automatic timer to that section? Meaning if somebody posts a new comment does it automatically show up on that section always exactly 1 hour later or 10 minutes later or whatever? If so, what is the time lag set to? Or is that top secret? Not that it’s that important, but it would be nice and probably easily doable if on the post itself there was a timestamp with geographical location in terms of time zone, and also a time stamp on the updated section so that we know that it showed up exactly 1 hour later or whatever. Perhaps all of this is automatically mechanically exact and it just seems rather random to me because I don’t know when something was posted. Because it still seems to me that other people’s new posts that are new and show up in the respective threads they’re in, don’t seem to register in that updated section either ever or in a timely manner, or a little of both sometimes. Could be my imagination with limited information.

@Sea Belt, are you talking about the main pages of the site instead of the forum?
The “Things We Said Today ” area of the site is controlled by Joe alone. He reads and then approves or deletes those comments. (side note: Mostly he approves those posts if they are related to the topic at all. He may take time to get around to approving them.) On the “Fab Forum” portion of the site, once a new member’s first post has been approved, they are free to post as long as they stay within the rules of the site. If they aren’t within the rules or even straddling the line, I am like a mother bear protecting her cubs. Sometimes the other mods have to talk me down for being overly protective of the Forum and forumpudlians.
If you are looking at the “On the Fab Forum” column, I think those update as soon as someone posts on the forum. Right, @Joe? If someone posts in a thread right after you did, then their comment would be on the front page of the site (beatlebible.com) instead of yours.
Am I on the right track?? Or did I miss the mark entirely?

It is the Fab Forum update section I was talking about. I would guess my experience of the seeming random variations in time and appearance have to do with me not knowing when they actually posted/got published, because “3 hours ago” clearly often doesn’t jibe with my experience of looking at the comment first in the thread, then seeing it (or not) on the update section. In other words, I’ll read a new comment on a thread, then go browsing the update section and I don’t see their new comment there, and sometimes don’t see it for a long time (I haven’t clocked it so I can’t be exact).
