Its irritating seeing crap journalism where either they haven’t bothered their backsides to do the minimum of research or they have yet have still manged to report it incorrectly.

The nurse came in while Dear Prudence was on and commented that she loved the song. We talked and I mentioned “a website where they know everything about the Beatles, called the Beatles Bible”. She said “omg” – she had taken a class at uni about the Beatles and they used this site as their primary research source :) it was at University of Cincinnati. Once again, kudos to @Joe and all of us who make this place so very cool!

From the article 45 Years Ago: Phil Spector Finishes Work on the Beatles’ ‘Let It Be’ at Ultimate Classic Rock:

The Beatles Bible notes that “Universe” was slowed down a half-step, while “Road” was pieced together from two stereo mixes (the edit is at 1:26, when Paul McCartney sings “Many times I’ve been alone“).

It’s cool that the words Beatles Bible in the article are hyperlinked to Joe’s page that the author referenced.

From the above article:

People may not buy many 33 r.p.m. albums anymore, but Brian Epstein lives on.

Do we not? I wonder…

From the Huffington Post

5 ‘Dirty’ Things You Didn’t Know About The Beatles

From #4

You’d think it’d be obvious that a “tit tit tit tit” harmonizing on a song called “Girl” was a dirty joke, but this usually goes unnoticed. The Beatles Bible points out that Paul McCartney is quoted in the book, Paul McCartney : Many Years From Now, talking about the origin of the joke: …

NME: Five Never-Performed-Live Beatles Tracks We’d Love To See Paul McCartney Revisit

I can’t really take any credit for this. I got an email from the NME this morning asking about Beatles songs that have never been performed live, and pointed them towards the forum thread about it. Thanks to all who contributed to it.

I was wondering if the Strawberry Fields park gate shown in the Free As A Bird video was the same gate as is shown in the Rain video (clearly marked by a “WAY OUT” sign – but from inside the park, so the Strawberry Fields nameplate is not there). I couldn’t find a definitive answer, if anyone happens to know.

I came across this which might seem rather minor, but illustrates how far the Beatles Bible has permeated throughout the internet music fan base a-hard-days-night-ringo-13. In the youtube for the Rain video, the following comment section can be found:

someone plz tell me why paul’s tooht is like that WHAT HAPPENED Answer needed*

+Fernanda Please It’s not even remotely a big secret. Has been mentioned many times and they’ve recounted the accident numerous times. It was joked, at the time, that’s why he started growing a mustache around then was to cover up a scar from the incident. Look it up, good version is in some site called the beatles bible. Happy music listening, What Is Life without tune-age?

never heard about it

It’s worth a watch just to hear John pronounce the backwards lyrics (backwards) at the little interview at the end…again 🙂

The Beatles Bible notes how “What You’re Doing” departed from then-traditional Beatles songs and set the tone for future recordings. The four-bar solo drum pattern introduces the song and returns in the fadeout; the distortion of the lead and rhythm guitars create a fuzzy sound; and the piano and bass break right before the song’s conclusion signal the Beatles’ willingness to experiment with song structure.

Recording began at Abbey Road on September 29, 1964; during this session they completed seven versions of the rhythm track. The next day they attempted the track five more times; according to the Beatles Bible, at this point the instrumental section was an octave higher. In the video below, note how Lennon and McCartney initially tried harmonizing on virtually all the lyrics rather than double tracking McCartney’s voice. Listen for a brief pause before the instrumental fadeout. The clip begins with take five, an incomplete attempt that breaks down quickly but features amusing studio chatter.

From an article at Ultimate Classic Rock today

@Oyster Black Pearl

55 Years Ago: Tommy Moore Quits the (Silver) Beatles

According to the Beatles Bible, Moore quit without warning on June 11, 1960, leaving the other Silver Beetles to scramble around the city looking for him after he didn’t show up for sound check before that night’s gig — and when he refused to leave his “more lucrative job working a night shift at the Garston bottle works,” they were forced to take the stage without a drummer and ask the audience if anyone knew how to play drums.

Needless to say, the night didn’t end well for the band — the Beatles Bible notes that John Lennon “frantically called Williams, who drove over and gathered the group and their instruments before any harm could come to them” — but far brighter days awaited the future Fab Four. Sadly, Moore’s fate was far gloomier: Despite later efforts to resume his music career, he continued to struggle financially until suffering a fatal brain hemorrhage on Sept. 29, 1981.

Ultimate Classic Rock quotes the Beatles Bible in an article on ‘Yesterday ‘ being recorded 50 years ago today (also posted in the ‘Yesterday‘ thread).

Beatles Bible says that a song that once “embarrassed” the group has since been recorded by more than 3,000 other artists.
