Thanks @Ron Nasty i didn’t know that.
What i love about George is that he wrote some of The Beatles best songs like Taxman and While My Guitar Gently Weeps .

George isn’t my favorite but I’m going to comment here anyway-
I love his personality. He’s really funny, but kind of quiet. And how spiritual he is. He loves India as much as I do. He played the sitar! He’s just so… cool. Just the kind of person I would want to be friends with.

I agree with the entire second paragraph.
Just out of curiousity, who is your favorite Beatle?

I’m jealous. Ringo lovers get the best names. We George fans, on the other hand, are constantly at risk of being called “Harrisonettes.”
I read another name for Starrbeams the other day: Starrfish. It reminds me of Octopus’s Garden

Not so. On this forum, we are known as Harrifans (good solid name) or Fiendish Thingies if we are particularly vehement (excellent name). Apple Scruff is an alternate title, though it more generally refers to Beatlemaniacs and @AppleScruffJunior has a bit of a monopoly/copyright on it.

No offense to ASJ, but when i first listened to Apple Scuffs i almost cried. “This is me… IM AN APPLE SCRUFF!”
sorry to derail more, i should get out of here and head to a Ringo thread, but i consider myself a Starrdust, as a combination of Bowie and Ringo, my two favourite people/martians.

Well just because Ringo is your favorite doesn’t mean you can’t love George. I love the other three Beatles so incredibly much– just not as much as George.

Well I am offended!!
I’m not the only Apple Scruff here, some person years ago (2010 maybe?) used the original AS title, made like 15 posts and then disappeared, never to be seen again. When I tried the name in 2013 it was already taken so I decided to stick ‘Junior’ after it because I would have been one of the younger members on the forum when I joined, now I’m a wizened old hag.

Aw don’t beat yourself up like that. I think it’s a great name and I am quite jealous. I wish I had given myself a George-related name but I couldn’t think of a good one that wasn’t taken.

He is not only my favorite “Beatle” but my favorite musician-song writer, all together!
George Harrison was a spiritual artist. He sought after greater purposes of life and gave music to his inner feelings and revelations in a rock era which was itself a challenging task to do.The depth of his songwriting and performances is unparalleled his songs have an amazing zenful effect.
And then of course his divine slide.
He was really unique! George goes beyond The Beatles, according my totally humble opinion.

Let’s be real: with a gun to my head, I’d call George my favourite Beatle. Sure, all of them are heavy contender for that title, maybe Ringo a little bit less (it hurts me to say that, but when I use songwriting as the main factor he just has that slight disadvantage), but when we’re talking ONE favourite, then I slightly turned from a Paul person into a George person over the years.
Here are four reasons why George Harrison was (is!) Boss:
1) Songwriting. I feel like George may still be underrated as a songwriter. Even among fans. If I look at Help ! and Rubber Soul , even back then his songs weren’t the very best on each album, but could easily hang with the “average” Lennon/McCartney track. And from Revolver onwards, almost every Harrisong is among the best on the respective album for me, including The Inner Light and Old Brown Shoe on Past Masters . Look at the top 30 I posted recently, about a third of them are Harrisongs. Which means even if he wrote much less songs than Lennon and McCartney, he didn’t write less masterpieces for the band. His solo career continued to proof his talent, even if there are still albums I only discovered on the surface yet.
The only little thing I could criticize is the fact that after The Inner Light he never fully returned to that same level of raga rock fusion. Unless I missed something.
2) I highly respect his religious spirituality, because he was never tying to be a missionary, but instead was teaching the human values and the overall spirituality that meant so much to him. This is the man who sang Hallelujah and Hare Krishna on the same song.
3) His Harrigang. The network of artists he befriended, and who loved and respected him not simply for the his status as a Beatle. I could watch the Concert for George every day. It’s so special when artists as diverse as Ravi Shankar and Monty Pythons pay their sincere tribute (or as Terry Gilliam said: “the heights and depths of George’s taste”). Clapton, Petty, Lynne, Keltner, Cooper and many more. How can you not love and respect them as a George fan?
4) Looks. Funny how in the 60s Paul was the “pretty” one, and nowadays people are leaning towards George. I don’t really want do judge that and I’m a straight man anyway, but George looked just BADASS. Especially in 1970 when he looked like Jesus joined a metal group. Their uniform boyband look was a funny idea for the beginnings, but when the four acquired their individual style in the late 60s it was so much better, and George really won that one

He is so underrated as a songwriter. His progressions became so sophisticated for Extra Texture and his Eponymous release, and he continued to produce music that sounds so natural and comfortable while using more complicated and sophisticated harmony that most of his contemporaries.
That’s the thing about John Paul and George’s songs that I love so much. It doesn’t matter if they are playing and singing the most basic guitar progressions, or using the studio to create intricate textures and melodic pathways, their melodies sound unbelievably natural. They can contextualize anything using their voice and lyrics and make it sound like a song that you’ve heard a million times before in another life. Its almost predictable, as if they are simple unlocking tunes that were inside of everybody all along.
Gun to my head I’d have to say John is my favorite Beatle, and I don’t care that George and Paul have a slightly prettier reputation. Its all about the songwriting, and John’s musical phrases are the greatest ever. I love his slogan songs.
