Georgemas celebrations are in full swing at the Beatles Bible House (where there is no space between us all). The seat next to Ritchie is reserved for visiting Fiendish Thingies. Help yourself to some watermelon.

And on this happiest of days, Happy Birthday George.
I always liked his smile:
Thanks all for those who have posted (and everyone else who will post today), particularly @sigh butterfly for what has honestly been some very impressive work behind the scenes. My apologies for not posting more often, life gets in the way of me more now than it did when I was 17.

HARRI GEORGEMAS I LOVE IT!!!! And wow your art has improved so much over the years, those Georges look great! I’m planning to draw something myself later on, but we’ll see how it goes… I’ve been putting most of my creative energy into music lately (including today’s offering).
For our celebration here, I’m going to put on one of my all-time favorite Harrisongs, which I think I’ve posted every Febrooary since I discovered it (probably because @AppleScruffJunior posted it )
This song just sounds like his smile looks!

I just remembered this demo, which I discovered early on in my Harrison solo journey and became absolutely obsessed with:
I absolutely adore the way he vocalizes the instrumental break in the most ethereal, delicate falsetto. We all know our George wasn’t the strongest singer… but sometimes, he didn’t have to be.

Happy Birthday , George!
George’s ‘audition’ for John Lennon took place on the top deck of a double-decker bus in Waltham, Liverpool. He played Raunchy “note perfect”, which made a strong impression.
Brian Epstein had arranged a meeting with the Beatles on 3 December 1961 to propose the idea of managing them. John, George and Pete had been drinking in The Grapes pub beforehand and they turned up late for the meeting. Even then, Paul was nowhere to be seen, and it transpired that he had just got up and was “taking a bath”.
Brian thought this behaviour was “very disgraceful indeed”, and their previous manager, Allan Williams, had already advised Brian not to have anything to do with the Beatles. George helped to lighten the atmosphere at this point by saying about Paul: “He may be late, but he’ll be very clean,” which amused Brian. So George’s wit and charm may have saved the day.
Many thanks to @sigh butterfly for all the interesting articles and to everyone taking part in this special celebration of George’s life!

Listened to his self titled album last night like 5 times as I drifted away into a peaceful sleep. Today is the first day of full MLB spring training and georgemas, so it is a glorious day. Maybe i’ll do a cover tonight and post it in this thread.

Thanks! I still remember the first time I tried to doodle him and you thought it looked more like Ringo haha so that’s good to hear!
So I’ve looked through the previous Febrooary posts. I really enjoyed reading the Apple Scruff stories as well as the excerpt from Pattie’s book about the history of Friar Park and George reflecting on his childhood. One thing that stood out to me is that it’s a shame George looked back on the Wonderwall Music soundtrack so negatively – that album is one that has grown on me recently and even though many of the songs are short instrumentals, I think they’re great demonstrations of how many different musical styles he could turn his hand to with ease and impressive considering the limited technology he had at the Bombay studio (also I will not tolerate any Mellotron slander ). I enjoyed the artsy eccentricity and trippiness of the film when I saw it a few years back too so I’ll probably watch that again soon!

It is very good for that! I may do that tonight, actually.
And I eagerly anticipate a cover if you feel up to it!

I listened to it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. It’s no All Things Must Pass , but it’s a perfectly nice collection of instrumentals.

Well the last moments of the 80th Georgemas are almost upon us. My celebration was interrupted by a surprise visit from my youngest daughter. She got her own place last month, so it was her first visit back home. After she left I stood in her now empty room where she lived for 28 years and let good memories morph into melancholy, which in turn transferred to Georgemas. He left so young and missed what to me is the most joyful part of life. When I think I’ve outlived him by more that 10 years already I get filled with sorrow. But thanks to him, I have words like this to help me get through it…
Beware of thoughts that linger
Winding up inside your head
The hopelessness around you
In the dead of night
It can hit you, it can hurt you
Make you sore and what is more
That is not what we are here for
Thanks to everyone that made February, well…FebROOary! Now it is time for George to get some rest…

I made a sort of curried chicken stew. It wasn’t even remotely authentic to any particular culture whatsoever, but it was absolutely delicious
And thank you for being the beating heart of this celebration this year, @sigh butterfly. Without you it really would not have happened, and your posts every day have been a complete joy to read, so long and detailed and well-researched! I would have loved to contribute daily, but my schedule sort of got in the way, and I am sure I can speak for @AppleScruffJunior as well when I say it’s really been an honor to see how you’ve carried the torch on this celebration that she pioneered All Those Years Ago. February is one of my least favorite months, but y’all and George really give me something to look forward to every year.
And now, the morning after, I find myself, fittingly, listening to this beautiful, uplifting piece of music:
