On Georgemas (2/25/23), there will be this many appreciation apples.
Hi @AppleScruffJunior (joy)
This being the 80th, I wonder if it would be cool to send out PMs to some select Fiendish Thingies from the past. It would be fun to hear from them on Georgemas. Also, be nice for me since more than likely I’ll be celebrating the next milestone birthday with George himself, rather that the forum Fiendish Thingy scruffy fabs.

I think I have sent PMs in the past to @Egroeg Evoli and the other co-founder of the club and I got no response. Would be nice to see them back though!

Thanks @AppleScruffJunior. I’m thinking instead of trying to explain Febrooary and the 25 Days of Georgemas, I’ll create an 80th birthday party invitation and PM it to 25 or so of the most active Fiendish Thingies over the last 10 years. As our fearless leader, I’ll run it by you for first look-sie of course

In 3 days I hope we’ll hear some of these guitars again.

Apologies, the forum is broken for me 80% of the time and it did not come up in my ‘recent posts’ suggestion.
Anyhoo, today is the first day of Georgemas 2k23!!
I found this video a few days ago that I had never seen before, only pictures of this trip (which I’ve posted somewhere in this thread before) – George in Vrindivan in 1996. Sadly it has no sound, but the picture quality is very, very good.
Also if anyone else wants to post anything on the same day, feel free to – the more the merrier, just please label it as ‘Day 1’ or whatever you want.
Enjoy 🙂

I didn’t really collect Beatle trading cards, but I remember there were always a few mixed in with my baseball player ones.
This is a video of AHDN scenes containing George’s dialogue only. It’s surprisingly less than 3 mintues long, so I don’t think he had trouble learning his lines.
I did not become a Fiendish Thingy until pretty late in life. When I saw ADHN, I was solidly Team Ringo. In fact, I couldn’t tell John from Paul from George. At 10 years old they looked and acted exactly the same to me. Boy that Ringo though, he was really something else. Anyhoo, through the years my interests changed and for a long time my complete focus was on John Lennon . If you asked teenage me, he was the Beatles. Later I grew to appreciate Paul more and was in full Beatlemania mode when I saw him rock a stadium in 1990. Experiencing him going full Hey Jude with 90,000 people joining in still gives me the hippy-hippy-shakes to this day . But as I grew older I realized that George was the one who influenced me the most. Paul and Ringo are still basically the same person they were in ADHN. John is impossible to label and I don’t think anyone really knew him well. George however grew and changed and actually demonstrated how we can exist in meaningful ways. Not a day goes by that I don’t practice awareness techniques that I initially learned from/with him. His cultural influences are many and to top if off we got lots and lots of wonder(wall) music. I am grateful George and Happy Georgemas!

Thanks ASJ, I never saw that footage before either. Btw-I can hear some interesting Indian flute based music when I play the video.
George played on and produced a couple of Ravi Shankar’s albums. They were released in a box set years ago called Collaborations. I really recommend giving them a listen. These are my favorite songs from the set.

Hi LPD, nice to have you here in Fiendish Thingy land. I just got some new earbuds that sound amazing. I’ll give the music you suggested a good listen.
Here is some music from another one of George’s side projects. I believe @vonbontee turned me on to the duo Splinter many years ago. At the time their album “The Place I Love” was not available on CD, but it is now. I don’t know that much about them except that Mal Evans introduced them to George, who signed them to Dark Horse . They recorded this album at Friar Park in 1973 with the help of Gary Wright, Klaus Voormann, Billy Preston, Jim Keltner, Alvin Lee and others. Lots of tasty guitar from George on these tracks, none of which I ever heard before.
