Aw crap it’s Febrooary and we all forgot!
Nah, not sure that it can be said that Georgemas was forgotten myself. More a case of its founder and many of those who made it viable rarely posting here anymore. How can you have Georgemas when the big George fans decided not to turn up for it? Wasn’t going to do it on my own.

Ok, very unnecessary comment but thanks for that contribution.
I visit the forum if not daily, then every second day and when I do post (or other people post), we get a ‘you haven’t been posting in a long time message, why not?!?!’ message, rather than a ‘nice to see you back again’ message. Makes it not very appealing to comment on the forum, it’s not the most welcoming atmosphere that you’re creating, Ron.

What is the big deal on whether folk are on every second, minute, day or millenium? Folk have lives and whatever plus there is no requirement to post every day; it’s post when you have something you wish to add and can not post because its between 469 seconds since the last time. Rejoice folk are here now not be down that they weren’t yesterday.
Plus the last person to be peeved over no posts would be George, he’d be thinking it was silly to be doing so in the first place.
This brings to mind one of my favourite songs due to the insanely outstanding brilliant lyrics

Well, I did legitimately forget, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were other people (besides those that have already said so) who forgot too. I don’t understand why you’re assuming that everyone just “decided” not to participate when there are other explanations for members’ absences.
Anywho, happy Febrooary everyone!

I have no problem with anyone who says that they themselves forgot, I just disputed the idea that “we all” forgot. I didn’t. I was fully expecting ASJ or sigh butterfly or someone to pop up and set Georgemas rolling. Was disappointed when they didn’t. Could have fired the start gun myself but didn’t feel it was worth doing on a quite quiet forum which currently lacks anyone regularly posting who identifies themself as a big George fan.
Had some of the newbies here been George ravers I might well have done, but they’re not, so I didn’t.
I also dispute ASJ’s suggestion that whenever former regulars post…

I’d love to see all these negative responses from me to her, or anyone else’s posts who hasn’t posted in a while, because I don’t recall making them.
Yes, I brought up the Discord group in the late-November/early-December discussion in the Annual Poll thread because I thought it was relevant. I was not referring to the Discord group here because I have no idea whether some of those who were formally a big part of Georgemas, like sigh butterfly, are a part of it.
My comment was merely an observation that I hadn’t forgotten it but didn’t think it was worth doing due to there being a small group of regular posters at the moment.

Ron, I work full time now and I have a second job in the evenings and I do college work on the weekend. I forgot. ‘We’ doesn’t mean literally everyone. The George thread is a nice and open place (or at least it’s meant to be), anyone could have started Febrooary.
I do not know why you are being so negative, you make me not even want to post in the thread I co-created because I’ll just get a snarky reply back.

Forumpudlians, please. George’s garden is not the place for back-and-forthing. It doesn’t matter who said what or meant what or who is wrong or right, let’s all just move on now.
Here’s a video that someone is legally required to post every year around this time.

I was having a boring, busy, tiring day at work, my spirits were low, and when it finally calmed down enough for me to go to lunch, I listened to this song…
and immediately George’s sweet voice and guitar and gentle wisdom was like a ray of sunshine breaking through my grey mood, and I felt immensely better after that.
And that’s the power of George.
On the way home it was beautiful and I had my windows, down listening to Brainwashed and watching the beautiful clouds roll by…

‘Flying Hour’ is one that always gives me a lift – the lyrics are fantastic. For some unexplained reason “So as you sit back to remember that which you cannot recall” resonates with me a lot but
It makes no difference
What was or what may beThe past it is gone
The future may not be at all
The present improve the flying hour
is up there with the best lyrics going.

He nicked those words from Friar Park’s eccentric Frank Crisp, it’s something he had inscribed on a stone carving.
I found an archive on Tumblr that tracks thing George and his family have said:
“You just keep going, and the past is gone. That’s what another English guy [Sir Frank Crisp] who built my house [Friar Park] said:
‘Past is gone — thou canst not that recall
Future is not — may not be at all
Present is — improve the flying hour
Present only is within thy power.’
That’s all there is to it. Nothing exists except now. The past is gone and the future doesn’t exist until you get to it, and then it’s the now. So you just have to be here now and do your best.” – George Harrison , The Today Show, 1986
“[George] was very much in the present, he didn’t think about what was going to be in the future. You know, ‘past is gone, thou canst not that recall, future is not, may not be at all.’ He used to quote that, it was — he put it in a song once, you know. ‘Present is, improve the flying hour. Present only is within thy power.’ And he lived like that. He wrote that song ‘Be Here Now,’ and — and that’s, I think that’s probably why he wasn’t thinking about the future and a legacy.” – Olivia Harrison, WNYC, 4 November 2011
and Dhani.

I firmly believe the weather was honoring our lord of the gardens, George
Also it’s been quite chilly and grey and misty-drizzly, with the early spring greens and blooms beginning to peek thru, so it’s been peak All Things Must Pass weather, and I was listening to it while I was driving to and from work and errands earlier, and it really lifted my spirits. Something about his sweet, pure songs just elevates the mundane and relieves petty stresses for me

I went to Henley-On-Thames recently and took photos of Friar Park. I also took photos of George’s favourite pub The Row Barge, which is where he recorded the crowd noises for Soft-Hearted Hana. I didn’t go inside the pub though. I took my Yellow Submarine George Lego figure with me.
I also discovered an apple sculpture nearby with cool artwork.
