Very cool @SgtPeppersBulldog, thanks for posting! A good way to kick off our Georgemas celebrations. @AppleScruffJunior
…Though I’m honestly not sure what else we shall do at present. I highly recommend a Harrithon (Harrison-marathon) all round, of course. I guess I’ll just post a favourite photo of George, with notes:
I found this one whilst questing for portrait-choices, and I would dearly like to know what has got him so perked up in that photo. I also dig the lighting; it makes his eyes look big and dark and twice as gorgeous.
Favourite anecdote about George: Tom Petty had come round and George was asking him to play ukuleles with him; Tom said no, he didn’t play. Well, by the end of the day he not only played ukulele, but was the owner of a couple more, as George had given him one and then pulled a couple more out of the back of his car, saying, ‘Not everyone carries one of these around, you know. We may need more!’
(Don’t take my word for it though, that’s just how I remember Tom Petty remembered the tale)

I’m going to watch The Concert for George tomorrow, so that’s part of my George celebrations. I’m quite excited; I’ve never seen it before.

Didn’t George gift Paul a uke as well? I feel like I’ve read stories from other friends about receiving ukuleles that he kept in his trunk. I think George was a bit promiscuous with the ukes …

If you mean ‘generous’ … yes, I think you’re right. It’s a really valuable old Gibson uke that Paul plays Something on in concerts.

In honour of today’s Georgefestivities:
A little boy was born here by some 75 years ago, his name was Geo
Written for Mo Ostin, the head of Warner Bros., on the occasion of his fiftieth birthday; it is possibly the most pure-hearted Harrisong I think I have heard. It never fails to make me feel the love.
A smile that you give that comes back always to you
Know we love you George

I have decided that if I ever got to meet George (not by accident), I should like to scrimp and save to buy a really nice ukulele and give it to him, because he’s rich enough and has several dozen ukuleles and so of course he needs it more than I do. No, really, because I feel like it would be a nice and kind of memorable thing to do, and fans are always wanting things from him or giving him useless stuff, so it would be cool to give him something that he never has enough of, because he gives them away. Or something. It’s hard to explain but anyway now my heart is breaking because it shall never be because he’s dead

@Father McKenzie The shirt, yes; the pants, no. Both of them together? Absolutely not
I tend to reserve chromatic loudness for the upper half of my body.

I’d wear it… Purely because I hate subscribing to the cultural norm of not assaulting people’s eyes with your clothes.

Each item separably isn’t bad. The pants could look cool if they were a bit looser, and were tied with a plain vest-top. Vice-versa with the shirt, have it with plain jeans or trousers and it’d be pretty funky.
However together…

I fixed it!!!
In all seriousness, though, I’d kill* to be able to wear that outfit. From the moment I first saw that picture 2 or so years ago, I loved it.
*Not actually; that wouldn’t be particularly polite.

Not particularly interesting news, Harrison estate launching new record label ‘HariSongs’ which will specialise in Indian classical music (most flattering photo of George ever on that site, I think Rolling Stones’ journalists must collab with The Irish Independent).
But something interesting, George and Ravi talking about the album ‘Chants of India’ circa 1997.

[George]’s got this way of singing that’s so strange, yet so beautiful. His breath support and note sustainability through phrases is insane. Perhaps its his double tracked vocals.
Thanks for saying that, SWR, that’s just what I have always thought. The other night I was playing the demo version of ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps ‘, singing it not-like-George and remembering how he sang it, so ethereal and floaty, especially on the falsetto ‘I don’t know whyyyyy, that even my Beatles-ambivalent mum noticed and remarked on how lovely his singing was.
