George’s vinyl collection (but most importantly) the extended version of ‘I, Me, Mine’ came out today.
Will whoever got the book (I’m 99.9% @Expert Textpert ordered it), throw up a review whenever you have it read- just for the Fiendish Thingies to see whether it’s worth €40.

My phone camera is broken so that it only takes selfies, otherwise I would share some photos.
It’s a large book, much larger than the other editions. I have only flipped through it so far, so I can’t give a detailed review, but I can say that it contains handwritten lyrics and other material not in the previous editions, up to and including Brainwashed.

Large in width or in height? I know my copy of IMM (from 2005?) is like a bloody school book in height, it’s probably slightly under the size of an A4 sheet of paper. It looks so awkward compared to the rest of my Beatles’ books on the shelf but eh what can I do?

I’ve only studied the 2005 edition in a book store, I never owned it, so I can only compare from memory. I was speaking of the width. The new edition is wider owing to having more material. It is probably also taller, although it is not the tallest book. I have it on my shelf of oversized Beatles books. It is shorter than the Lennonology book (probably doesn’t help you), which in turn is shorter than Anthology.

Right, I might see it in a bookshop sometime next week if I walk into the city.
Thrilling stuff!

^HA!
I spent about an hour and a half playing Harrisongs on my Martin today… all the ones I know. Some of them I haven’t played in ages and had forgotten how enjoyable they are. I appreciated George more in that hour and a half than I had in the past month (and I’ve done a fair bit of George apprecation in the past month ).
…It was wonderful

I’m steadily appreciating George more and more. George evokes more of an emotional reaction in me than John, but I identify with John’s mercurial nature.

George and John appeared in spirit form to a medium via a special photographic method. She wondered if it might be because of an anniversary coming up, but I think it must have been in honor of my post yesterday wondering if I like John or George more.

The Palomino Club in Hollywood, 19 February 1987.
Jesse Ed Davis’ Graffiti Band are opening for, and then backing, his former boss, Taj Mahal.
George and Bob Dylan have gone along to cheer on Jesse Ed, and are also fans of Taj. John Fogerty is also in the audience.
There is video of this remarkable night!
Shot by an audience member, it isn’t perfect. Far from, the picture is quite fuzzy, there are occasional tape slips and break ups. The sound is largely very good, with occasional drops.
The fact there is film of this is remarkable in itself. It is well worth a watch.
The video cuts in toward the beginning of Taj performing Woke Up with the Blues. At the end George has decided he’d rather play than watch and bounds up onto the stage from the audience. He’s given a guitar. George drops into the line-up to back Taj on versions of Checkin’ Up on My Baby and She Caught the Katy. Then Jesse Ed takes to the mike for Farther on Down the Road (You Will Accompany Me). Taj then does You’re Gonna Need Somebody on Your Bond. He’s mentioned Bobby briefly before the song, he now gently persuades him to join George on the stage with him (“Don’t make me come and get you…”). George suggests “Matchbox in A” and shares the lead vocal with Taj, ad-libbing a verse about “sittin’ here wonderin’ will Bob Dylan hold all my clothes”! It slips into a snatch of Gone, Gone, Gone and then back again. By the end of the song John Fogerty has decided if George and Bob are on stage, so is he. Taj leads them through great versions of Lucille and Crosscut Saw before launching into his Bacon Fat. John Fogerty takes over the mike for versions of Knock on Wood and In the Midnight Hour. There’s some discussion about what next. Someone suggests doing a Beatles number. Someone suggests Yellow Submarine . George opts for Honey Don’t and takes the lead vocal. John then breaks into Blue Suede Shoes with George joining him. There’s a shout from the audience for Bob’s Watching the River Flow. George shrugs and says he’ll do it, with Bob joining him at the mike a couple of times. John hasn’t performed any Creedence material since they split, has always refused. Bob requested Proud Mary and you don’t say no to Bob. John enjoys singing it more than he expected and soon after he started reintroducing Creedence songs to his act. We then get Taj doing Johnny B. Goode before a Willie and the Hand Jive to which George, Bob and John add enthusiastic Hey! Bo Diddley backing vocals. George than does Peggy Sue with Bob joining him in places before launching into Dizzy Miss Lizzy . And then, half-hour after the Palomino has officially shut, Taj leads them through a closing Twist And Shout .
Ain’t a short watch but it is a real treat.
To have been in that audience thinking you were just gonna get a Taj Mahal gig… your jaw slowly dropping as the next person joined the band…
