I’ve been having a Georgey week since I got my slide and not only has my admiration of his spot-on-ness grown, but I also ran across some fab thingies:
(I adore demos of all kinds, especially George’s, and that one is very good. I love the guitar chingachinganess– the final version is wonderful, of course, but I could stand a bit more acoustic guitar, and this delivers.)
A version of Any Road:
Note that he’s playing with a capo on the fifth fret, which makes the chords roughly equivalent to a ukulele (but he’s tuned down half a step, I think). Also note how shaky his voice is… poor George

Well, today my dad dragged me along to his office to help him with some stuff he needed to do (he’s an elementary school principal). I got really bored, so I found a copier and decided make this!

Billboard report that Olivia is planning a new album that would feature 10 (or so) newly finished, previosuly unreleased, George tracks.
Olivia Harrison said she and Dhani Harrison, her 37-year-old musician son with George Harrison , have talked about him finishing some unreleased tracks that her late husband left behind. “There are a lot of songs that are unfinished,” she said. “I think there’s a project there. I just need time to get to it.”
Ono told Billboard that she’s working on an album of approximately 10 songs that she had intended to have out by now, but she was blindsided by the flu (and briefly hospitalized in February). “That derailed the whole situation,” she said. Ono explained that “everything in my body is OK now, except I have a problem walking,” adding, “I want to be a little more normal” before turning her attention back to the record.

Here’s one for House Harrison.

“Goodbye Sunday,” … featuring a George Harrison slide guitar solo that sounds like an outtake from All Things Must Pass (which Wright famously played on) …

To those who have never heard it before, here is a demo of ‘Rocking Chair in Hawaii’ from the All Figs Must Pass sessions.
I’m so sorry, I bet you didn’t think it was possible to be that bad.

Wow. That was amazingly dreadful. And I thought the Mindlaundered version was bad! It’s a little better if you listen simultaneously with ‘Goodbye Sunday’, as the latter drowns it out some.
Yes, I did that. Don’t ask.

I like that; kind of like the Beatles ‘House Of The Rising Sun‘ – so deliberately done bad that its enjoyable.

Greetings, Harrifans! Can we talk about how awesome this single sleeve is? The new Revolver -esque drawing is really neat and I sorta like how the left the ‘ER’ on the original drawing. The color is nice too!

Beautiful finds, Evangeline! If anyone could rock the psychedelic threads, it was George (who, as both my sister and my friend aptly observed on separate occasions, looked good in anything*). Though I always thought his best look was the more subdued hues of the 70s.
*Let’s pretend that the goatee / ponytail look of the 90’s didn’t exist, shall we?

Singer/songwriter Rodney Crowell on hearing about George’s death:
We were rehearsing the song This Too Will Pass and I got a phone call from my daughter Hannah who lives in Los Angeles and is an incredible Beatles fan. She was in tears because George had died. I went back and told Pat Buchanan and Michael Rhodes who were on the session with me and as we were recording the play-out at the end, I just said, “Goodnight, George”. It was just an emotional thing. We went into the control room and Pat had tears down his face and he said, “Do you realise how similar this song is to All Things Must Pass ?” I hadn’t thought about it until that moment, but he’s right. We left “Goodnight, George” on the song and decided to end the record [Fate’s Right Hand] that way.
The song certainly has a very George feel, and it’s one of those weird coincidences it was being recorded that night. While not written with George’s passing in mind, with its heartfelt farewell to George at just before the 3:30 mark, it can’t help but feel like a tribute.
